Larry Beckman

Larry W. Beckman, age 73, of Quincy, died on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at 11:15 pm in Good Samaritan Home.

Larry was born December 26, 1942 in Quincy, Illinois, the son of Arthur Victor and Viola Butts Beckman. He married Winifred "Winnie" Deveau on October 9, 1963 in the Bronx, New York. She survives.

Larry was a Quincy High School graduate. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis on the USS Essex. Larry was a farmer in the South Bottoms. He was a former member of Grace Methodist Church and attended Vermont Street United Methodist Church.

Larry liked camping, traveling to Branson (West Gate Resort), spending time with Charity and going to her events. He was also an avid country music fan. He enjoyed attending car races and tractor pulls. Larry was a beloved husband and father.

Survivors in addition to his wife include,Charity, at the home, and Michael Beckman of Illinois; four sisters, Shirley Wellman of Quincy, Donna Lee Abbott of Davenport, IA, Betty (Leroy) Gronewold of Ursa, IL, and Janice (Harry) Maharaj of Brandon, FL; two brothers, Timothy (Jan) Beckman of Tulsa, OK, and Randy (Debbie) Beckman of Brookfield, MO, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, an aunt and uncle who helped raise him, Elnora and Marvin Woods, two brothers, Lloyd and Maurice Beckman, and a sister, Vicky.

Services: 10:00 am on Monday, August 15, 2016 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home with Rev. Patty Johansen officiating.

Burial: Greenmount Cemetery, Quincy, Illinois

Visitation: 2:00 to 4:00 pm on Sunday, August 14, 2016 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home.

Memorials: Blessing Hospice or Homeward Bound Waggin.
