Wilma L. Sprick

Wilma L. Sprick, age 99, of Quincy, died Thursday, December 15, 2016, at 1:10 pm in Good Samaritan Home.

Wilma was born April 28, 1917 in LaBelle, Missouri, the daughter of Cecil and Anna Lee Lear Steffen. She married John Edward Sprick on June 10, 1933 in Fort Madison, Iowa. He preceded her in death on June 18, 2009.

Wilma was employed in the deli at Wink's Market at 9th and Jefferson, until it closed, and later worked in the Niemann Food Center Deli. She was a member of the First Christian Church of LaBelle, Missouri. Wilma was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, and she loved cooking and baking. Baking rolls was one of her favorite things to make in the kitchen.

Survivors include her daughter, Judy (Russ) Daniels of Quincy; daughter-in-law, Lynn Sprick of Quincy; three grandchildren, Suzy Harmann, Christine (Greg) Spohr, and John (Polly) Sprick; eight great-grandchildren, Christopher Harmann, Nathan (Eileen) Harmann, Alexandra, Rebecca, Katie and Trevor Spohr, and Scott and Tyler Sprick; a sister-in law, Betty Steffen of Quincy; and various nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Ronald Sprick, four brothers, Elmo Steffen, Bill Steffen, John Robert Steffen and Donald Payne, and three sisters Edith, JoAnne, and Wanna Lee.

Services: 2:00 pm on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, with Rev. Jim Harper officiating.

Burial: Greenmount Cemetery, Quincy, Illinois

Visitation: 1:00 to 2:00 pm on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home.

Memorials: Good Samaritan Home Foundation or Central Baptist Church

"Please accept my deepest condolences on the loss of your loved one. I didn't know Mrs. Sprick, but was sorry to hear of her passing. And may the words found at Acts 24:15 give you some comfort knowing you have the hope of seeing her again in the resurrection. So for now, just think of her as sleeping peacefully waiting for Jesus to wake her up. And I pray that the Almighty God continue with you to comfort and sustain you through this difficult time."
