Brian K. Bassett, age 62, of Quincy, died Tuesday, January 24, 2017, at 1:00 pm in Blessing Hospital.
Brian was born April 21, 1954 in Quincy, the only child of Wilbert Hugh and Frances Nixon Bassett. On April 30, 1988 he married Sandra Scott in Quincy. She survives.
Brian graduated from Parkside High School in Jackson, MI and was a graduate of Vatterott College. He served in the United States Navy from 1976 through 1982. He was a Mason - affiliated with Masonic Lodge Unity #16 F and AM. Brian also enjoyed fishing and traveling.
Survivors in addition to his wife include; a son, Brandon (Monica) Stanton of Monroe City, MO; two daughters, Shanekia Scott of Quincy, and Nikki (Jason) Gibson of Normal, IL; eleven grandchildren, Bra'Don Stanton, LaTanya Scott, Chyna Hutt, Jakiyah Blissit, Gabby Stanton, Jaylen Gibson, Briah Blissit, Amiah Blissit, Blythe Gibson, Lake Gibson, and Chance Scott; his mother, Frances Bassett-Clay of Quincy; two brothers, Lewis (Margaret) Bassett of Chicago, IL, and Trinell "Buzz" (Theresa) Hickman of Quincy; a sister, Helen (Donald) Allison of Quincy; two step-sisters, Evelyn (Finley) Lewis of Lagrange, MO, and Jeanna (Orville) Thompson of Minneapolis, MN; two aunts, Margaret Alexander of Moline, IL; and Barbara Lewis of St. Charles, MO; numerous nieces and nephews and cousins.
Brian was preceded in death by his father, Wilbert Hugh Bassett; a step-father, Granville Clay; an aunt, Norma Mahr; an uncle, William Nixon; and a step-brother, Granville Clay, Jr.
Services: 1:00 pm Monday, January 30, 2017 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, with Chaplain Melva Johnson officiating.
Inurnment: Private inurnment at Greenmount Cemetery
Visitation: 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm, Sunday January 29, 2017 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home.
