Robert L. "Boomer" Hadsell Sr., age 78, of Quincy, died on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at 6:30 am in Columbia, Missouri.
Robert was born January 27, 1939 in Quincy, Illinois, the son of Virgil W. and Bertha M. Young Hadsell.
Boomer was a member of Central Baptist Church, The Elks Club, the American Legion and a life member of South Side Boat Club. Robert served in the Illinois Army National Guard during the Vietnam War. He was a long time carpenter at Huck's Fixture Company.
Boomer's daily routine was to visit Walmart and the HyVee store on Harrison. He enjoyed bowling and was an avid camper and Chicago Cubs Fan. He enjoyed gambling with his nephew, Steve Hadsell, in Las Vegas. Boomer loved his family and his grandchildren meant the world to him.
Survivors include a son, Robert L. (Tracey) Hadsell Jr. of Ashland, MO, a grandson, Robert Hadsell III, a granddaughter, Bethany Nicole Hadsell, and several nieces and nephews.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jerry Hadsell.
Services: 9:30 am on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 in the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, with Pastor Jim Harper officiating.
Burial: Sunset Cemetery, Quincy, Illinois with military honors by American Legion Post #37.
Visitation: 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Monday, February 13, 2017 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home.
