Bobby Ray "Bob" Oenning, age 68, of Ursa, died Sunday, March 19, 2017, at 4:30 am in his home.
Bob was born May 15, 1948 in Quincy, Illinois, the son of Wilbur J.L. and Vera Marie Gerdes Oenning. He married Cassandra Eileen Gilliland on September 30, 1967 in Coatsburg, Illinois. She survives.
He graduated from Unity High School in 1966. Bob worked at Motorola Company, Rinella Company, CUSD #4 in Mendon, and later retired from Sam's Club in 2011. Bob's favorite hobbies were hunting, fishing, softball, bowling, playing cards and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
In addition to his wife, Cassie, Bob is survived by two daughters, Karen (Brett) Edgar of Paloma, IL, and Christine (Chad) Todd of Fowler, IL; four grandchildren, Brittani (Tim) Cook of Camp Point, IL, Brandon Edgar of Paloma, IL, and Cristen and Caitlyn Todd both of Fowler, IL; a great-granddaughter, Kaylee; two brothers, Gene (Connie) Oenning of Ursa, IL, and Jim (Barb) Oenning of Quincy; a sister, Carol Walton of La Grange, MO; his in-laws, Loren and Melba (Schmitz) Gilliland of Olathe, CO; a brother-in-law, Brent (Vera) Gilliland of Irondale, AL; a sister-in-law, Michele Gilliland of Sandersville, GA; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Ronald Oenning; brother-in-law, Larry Walton; and a great-nephew, Elijah Oenning.
Services: 11:00 am Saturday, March 25, 2017 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, with Pastor Dan Wilson officiating.
Visitation: 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm, Friday March 24, 2017 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home
Memorials: Blessing Hospice or to Cassie Oenning for Grandchildren's Education Fund
