Charles L. "Chuck" Henry went to eternal rest on June 15, 2017 at Good Samaritan Home in Quincy, Illinois. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend.
Chuck was born September 7, 1929 to Lloyd L. Henry and Goldia M. Galford Henry in Hamilton, Illinois. He attended grade school in Hamilton and high school in Keokuk, Iowa.
On September 20, 1952 he married Helen M. McFerson in Kahoka, Missouri. Before his marriage, he was employed by the Santa Fe Railroad at Ft. Madison, Iowa. He later owned and operated Tri-State TV and Radio Service, C. Henry Tackle Company and was hired by Life Investors Insurance Company. He moved his family to Quincy, IL and was employed as a sales representative for Quincy Leather and Hardware and Witte Hardware. He later operated A-1 Security and Lock. His wife, Helen preceded him in death on March 13, 1999. He married Elizabeth "Betty" Bergman in Quincy on June 30, 2001. She survives.
Chuck was an avid hunter, fisherman, metal detector operator, Amateur Radio Operator and geo-cacher. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus.
He also is survived by five children, Robert Henry (Terri) of Danville, IL, Patricia Erf (Gregory) of Portales, NM, Katharine Henkenmeier (Gerald) of Quincy,IL, Dennis Henry (Maria) of Littleton, CO, and James Henry (Kelly) of Quincy, IL; two step-children, Randall Bergman (Terri) of Florence, SC, and Sharon Rayburn (Bob) or Lexington, KY; 11 grandchildren, Taryn Barker (Nicholas) of Cincinnati, OH, Meredith Sturgeon (Nicholas) of Perry, GA, Ella Aquirre (Jacob) of Cincinnati, OH, Logan Erf (Kelsey) of Denver, CO, David Henkenmeier and fiancé (Erin Householder) of Quincy, IL Laura Henkenmeier of Turkey, Shawn Henry and Jamie Henry of Littleton, CO, Alex and Carter Henry of Quincy, IL, and Ryan Henry of Anchorage, AK; six step-grandchildren, Hannah Heston of Quincy, Danielle Winkler (Payton) of Sherrillsford, NC, Kendall Bergman (Cassie) of Hernando, MS, Brandi Hawley (Dominic) of San Diego, CA, Kate Riechert of Lexington, KY, and Dylan Reichert of Louisville, KY; six great-grandchildren; nine step great-grandchildren; a sister, Launa Blickhan (Maurice), brothers-in-law, Robert Duesterhaus ( Judy) and Thomas Bergman; sisters-in-law Kathleen Venvertloh (Walter) and Cynthia Frericks (Kenneth), all of Quincy, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Chuck was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen, his parents, a sister and brother-in-law, Alice and Donald Gower, a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Betty McFerson, and a sister-in-law, Marjorie Bergman.
Services: 9:30 am prayers on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home followed by a 10:00 am Mass of Christian Burial at the Church of St. Peter.
Burial: Calvary Cemetery, Quincy, Illinois
Visitation: 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home with a Wake Service at 3:30 pm.
