John William French, age 84, of Quincy died on September 8, 2017 at 8:16 p.m. in the Good Samaritan Home.
John was born February 6, 1933 in Quincy, the son of Eugene and Wilma Nick French. He married Betty Fierge on October 12, 1963 in Quincy. She preceded him in death on December 21, 2005.
John was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. He had been employed at Moorman Manufacturing for 30 years. John liked horseshoes, bowling,bingo and helping out at the community center.
Survivors include five children, Johnny (Penny) French, Lisa (Kevin) Reed, Brenda (special friend Bruce Bias) French, all of Quincy, Judy Flesner of Golden, and Patty (Shane) Starman of Quincy; seven grandchildren, Kristena (special friend Cory Cobb) Reed, Adam Reed, Ashley (special friend John Eidson) French, Kari (Joseph) Gibson, Kody Flesner, and Tyler and Andrea Starman; four great grandchildren, Kayley Reed, Dylan Eidson, Kynleigh Gibson, and Karley Cobb; and a sister Bonnie Adams of California.
In addition to his wife John was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Robert and Lewis French.
Services: 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 in the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home with Deacon Terry Ellerman officiating.
Burial: Calvary Cemetery, Quincy, Illinois
Visitation: 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home.
