Thelma Rabe

Thelma Pauline Rabe, age 92, of Quincy, died Wednesday, September 27, 2017, at 4:25 am in Good Samaritan Home.

Thelma was born December 7, 1924 in Lima Township, IL, a daughter of Harry Glenn and Jennie Priepot Seward. She married Roger Henry Rabe on November 3, 1943 in Palmyra, Missouri. He preceded her in death on August 27, 2009.

Thelma was a graduate of Mendon Township High School. She was a 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a 65 year member of Adams County HCE. Thelma was also a member of the Payson Lioness Club as well as an active member of the Payson Congregational Church. Thelma greatly enjoyed traveling and cooking, with baking being her specialty. She also liked embroidery, particularly making quilt tops for her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include: her daughter, Marcia Schieferdecker of Ursa, IL; two sons: Lester (Nancy) Rabe of Champaign, IL; and Bruce (Terry) Rabe of Elkhorn, WI; six grandchildren: Clinton (Jamie) Rabe of Ames, IA; Nicole (Stacy McWilliams) Rabe of New York, NY; Brittany Rabe of Elkhorn, WI; Scott (Beverly) Schieferdecker of O'Fallon, MO; Ryan (Beth) Schieferdecker of Sun Prairie, WI; and Erica (Brad) Huntley of Loraine, IL; ten great grandchildren: Anna, Emily, Sara, Liliana, and Cora Schieferdecker; Madeline, Elsa, and Evelyn Rabe; and Jayce and Kade Huntley.

In addition to her husband, Thelma was preceded in death by four sisters; Mary Short, Ruth and Edith, who died in childhood, and Betty Wollbrink; three brothers: Glen, Otis, and Carroll Seward; and her son-in-law, Larry Schieferdecker.

Services: 10:00 am Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at Mendon Congregational Church, with Rev. Bruce Willard and Chaplain James Riley officiating.

Burial: Quincy Memorial Park, Quincy, Illinois

Visitation: 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm, Monday October 2, 2017 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home
