Helen L. Bradney

Helen L. Bradney, age 95, of Liberty and formerly of Payson, peacefully left our world to join those who left before her, on Sunday, March 25, 2018 at 10:20 A.M. in her daughter Sandra's home. She was surrounded in person and in prayers by those who loved her.

Helen was born January 10, 1923 in Kirksville, Missouri the daughter of Paul Oscar and Fannie Grace Schaberg Krietemeyer. On March 7, 1945 she married Grant "Jim" Bradney in Taylor, Missouri. He preceded her in death on August 5, 2003.

Helen was a 1942 graduate of Palmyra High School. She was employed for many years as an inspector for Ely-Walker and had worked over 10 years as an Adams County Home Health Aide. She was a former member of Grace United Methodist Church.

Helen will be remembered for her positive influence on family and friends. Her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren will always be grateful for her words of advice, gained from her many life experiences. Her love of sewing, quilting, crafting, reading, and flea-marketing live on in her children. Helen, a devoted mother and grandmother was deeply loved and will be sorely missed.

Survivors include a loving daughter, Sandra (Dennis) Heming of Liberty; Beloved daughter's in law Debbie Bradney (Bob) and Rose Bradney (Gary). Seven grandchildren Errick Bradney and Jason (Christina) Bradney, both of Palmyra, MO, Alicia (Chad) Ludwig of Fall Creek, IL, Heather Hopwood of Palmyra, Tonya Louise Boker of Liberty, Matthew (Sadiqa) Heming of Columbus, IL, and Jonathan (Samantha) Bradney of Palmyra; Great grandchildren Rylie and Regan Wagy, Loren Eastburn, Joanna Hoskins (David), Alex Loos, Caleb Boker, Zack, Gabi, and Nate Heming, Brittany, Junior Paul and Levi Wayne Bradney, and Brayden and Brianne Bradney. Also Great-Great grandchildren Greddah, Nathalia, and future baby Hoskins. Two brothers Robert "Bob" (Vera) Krietemeyer and John Krietemeyer of Ewing, MO; two sisters, Pauline "Polly" (Don) Sutton, of Palmyra, and Irene Griesbaum of Taylor, MO; as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband Jim, Helen was preceded in death by her parents, three sons, Robert "Bob" Bradney, Gary Bradney, and David (infancy), a grandson, Tommy Bradney, a brother Dick Krietemeyer, and three sisters, Carlene Breeden, Mary Johnson, and Martha Archer.

Services: 10:00 am on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home.

Burial: Greenmount Cemetery, Quincy, Illinois

Visitation: 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home.

Memorials: Due to Helen's great love for reading and literacy, all funds collected from memorial are to be used to purchase large print books for the Quincy Public Library in Helen's name.
