Ralph H. Boyer

Ralph H. Boyer, age 92, of Quincy, died Sunday, July 1, 2018, at 9:28 am in his home.

Ralph was born October 11, 1925 in Quincy, Illinois, the son of Edd and Bessie Lincoln Boyer. He married Mary Ann Genenbacher on June 8, 1947 in Quincy, IL. She survives.

Ralph enlisted in the U. S. Navy while he was in high school, and after he served his country he finished school receiving his GED. He was married to Mary for 71 happy years. They just celebrated their anniversary in June. Ralph was a 2nd generation owner of 5 generations at Boyer Boot and Shoes, where it started at 12th and State. It eventually moved out to it current location, 36th and Broadway, where he also operated Red Barn Mini Golf course until it closed. He was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ. Ralph was an avid fisherman, boater and golfer. He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed a good card game.

Michael Boyer of Key West, FL, Susan Boyer (Richard) Tabb of Quincy, IL, and Gregg (Judy) Boyer of Quincy; 5 grandchildren, Philip Tabb of Key West, FL, Alex Tabb of Kansas City, MO, Jennifer Myers of Quincy, Matt Boyer of Quincy, and Melissa Avery of Uxbridge, MA, 10 great grandchildren, Landon, Evan and Colin Tabb, Savannah Myers, Noah Myers, Zoe Boyer, Krysten Boyer, Clarah Avery, Mia Boyer, and Brad Hudson, and a brother Gerald Boyer of Quincy.

Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, Dorothy Kerberick and Fran Huffhines, and brothers, Donald and Robert Boyer.

Services: 10:00 am Friday, July 6, 2018 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, with Rev. Timothy A. White officiating.

Burial: Greenmount Cemetery

Visitation: 5:00 -7:00 pm Thursday July 5, 2018 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home

Memorials: Trinity United Church of Christ and Service International
