"I went to grade school and high school with Doug. You will never find a better man. This world is a much lesser place without him. My heart goes out to his family and friends."
"I had the wonderful pleasure of knowing Dr. Doug Allen when I lived in Quincy, Illinois back in 2012-2013. I worked as a registered dental hygienist for both him and his brother, Dr. Dave. Not only was Doug a wonderful dentist, he was also a very good friend. He touched my life in such a profound way and helped me both on a professional and personal level. His life on earth was not long enough and my heart goes out to his son, his brother and all the wonderful co-workers I worked with when I was living there. My sincere condolences to his entire network of family, friends and patients. I miss you Dr. Doug and thank you for touching my life. I will see you one day when I too get to heaven."
"My thoughts and prayers are with the family during these times of sorrow. My first memory of meeting Doug and Dave was back at Lincoln School. The first "twins" I remember ever meeting. Our paths continues to cross through grade school, Jr & Sr High, and Quincy College. Doug was my lifeguard instructor and we worked together at Wavering for a few summers. I looked to Doug's example and inspiration as a caring instructor when I became an instructor. It was an easy decision to move my dental care and sit in Doug's chair, for who better to help me with my fear of dentist's than someone I have known most of my life. Our paths continues to cross as Shirley was my Grandmothers roommate at Good Sam. I could always catch up on the boys by asking Shirley and seeing the many photos of the families around the room. We are all a little better off having had the opportunity of knowing Doug."
"Shirley, Jan, Dave, and families - my heartfelt condolences go out to you, I am so saddened to hear of Doug's passing. I have many childhood memories of the friendships formed with Doug, Dave, and your entire family at Madison Park Church. My thoughts and prayers are with you all."

"I am deeply saddened by this tragic and unexpected loss of Doug. There are so many stories and memories of him and his family and the short version would be that I enjoyed the journey of life and time that we shared and was looking forward to many more years. One story he told me that really stuck with me was that after graduating from Medical school the scariest thing was to take out large business loans to equip your dental office and lease a building and then on the first day you are in business turning the sign on the door to open and hope somebody shows up. It made us both laugh. Fortunately many came and I celebrated their success. I pray for his mother, Dave and Jan and all of their families as this will not be easy. We never know where the road will lead us sometimes but I do enjoy sharing the journey with all of you."
