Charles Joseph "Charlie" Finley, age 59, of Quincy, died on Friday, October 26, 2018 at 9:13 a.m. in his home.

Charlie was born June 17, 1959 in Ottumwa, Iowa, the son of John W. and F. Lorraine Niemer Finley. He married Kathleen Brinkman on March 6, 1982 in Quincy. She survives.

He graduated from St. Francis Grade School and Quincy High School in 1977. Charlie attended John Wood Community College before joining the United States Air Force from 1982 until 1990. He earned a rank of Staff Sergeant. He also worked on A-10s in Alaska and B52s in Spokane, WA, where he was staffed as a hydraulic specialist.

After he was honorably discharged from the Air Force, Charlie began working for J.M. Huber as a ground control technician. He retired in September of 2018.

Charlie was a member of St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He liked hunting, fishing, and camping with his family. Charlie also enjoyed helping his boys with their Boy Scout camp outings. He was a big of fan of the Packers, the Blues, and the Cardinals. Charlie and Kathy loved going for rides on his Harley together.

In addition to his wife, Kathy, Charlie is survived by five children: Marie Finley of Quincy; Daniel (Sarah Cummings) Finley of Charlotte, NC; Ross (Rose) Finley of Quincy, IL; Jay (Erica) Finley of Quincy; and Jack Finley of Quincy; four grandchildren: Lucas, Mattie, Brynn, and Huckson Finley; three brothers: Jim Finley of Carpentersville, IL; John Finley, of Hendersonville, NC; and Tom (Jody) Finley, of East Moine, IL; three sisters: Beth (Dave) Likens of Waltonville, IL; Kathi Finley of Cherokee, NC; and Jeanne (Jim) Aschemann of Quincy; his mother, Lorraine Hidding, of Hendersonville, NC; and numerous nieces, nephews, and in-laws.

Charlie was preceded in death by his father, stepfather, Paul Hidding, two grandchildren: Taigen and Bentley Finley, and a sister at birth.

Services: 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 2, 2018 at St. Franics Solanus Catholic Church, with Rev. James Wheeler O.F.M. officiating.

Burial: Calvary Cemetery, Quincy, Illinois with military honors by American Legion Post #37

Visitation: 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 1, 2018 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home with a Liturgical wake service at 7:00 p.m.

Memorials: 12 Little Angels Memorial Fund at St. Francis Solanus Church or Unity Point Hospice
