MUSCATINE, Iowa - Esther Clemens, 91, of Muscatine, passed away on Friday, March 8, 2019, at home.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 13, 2019, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Kenny LaRue, Steve Bowen, Troy Williams, Scott McConnaha, Denny O'Neil Jr., Jay Graham. Honorary Pallbearers will be Fred Hurlbut, Denny O'Neil Sr., Ralph Brewer, Joe Clarke, Tom Sharar, and Gene LaRue. Burial will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 12, 2019, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the local Special Olympics or the American Cancer Society. Online condolence: www.wittichfuneralhome.com
Esther was born on January 31, 1928, in Bennett, the daughter of Elmer and Verna Paul McQuillen. She married Edward Clemens on November 9, 1959, in Rochester, Minnesota. He preceded her in death in 1980.
She owned and operated Miller Furniture Store in Muscatine and was a member of Ss. Mary and Mathias Parish. She was an avid Cubs and Hawkeye fan. She enjoyed traveling, going to her grandchildren's sporting events, spending time with friends, and being with her family.
Those left to honor her memory include her sons, Michael Clemens and wife, Connie, and Craig Clemens and fiancé, Joelle McConnaha, all of Muscatine; seven grandchildren, Cassie Clemens, Catherine Arceo and husband Edwin, Amber Clemens and Mariah Witsman, Nick Clemens and wife, MacKenzie, Amanda Clemens and fiancé, Alex Bradley, Emily Clemens and fiancé, Matt Wieskamp, and Ashley Clemens; one great grandson, Andrew Rife; and one sister, Jane Gronert and husband, Norris, of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, her son, Mark Clemens in 1992; her sister Joyce McQuillen, and two brothers, Wayne and Lyle McQuillen.
