"Sandy Thede sent an email to notify us the sad news of Kevin's death. I am so incredibly sorry you are grieving the death of your son and Marlene's grandson's death. My brother took his own life and I know how painful it is for parents and grandparents. It's just not supposed to work that way. :-( Just in reading about Kevin, he sounded like such a great guy. Savor your memories and know I am praying for your family. "

"Kevin I will miss you bro. I have many memories of Kevin and I going to Sunny Hollow and also working at willow creek movie theater together. One memory I have is that we used to go to the casino after work and I always thought he could count cards because he was so smart but after losing my 50 bucks and his as well I figured out quickly he couldn't count cards and that we should keep our day jobs. I will miss him. He was a great friend. My prayers go out to his family. "

"Brad, Janan, Rachel, and family, I am so sorry for your loss. Kevin and I met in our freshman year of college during our intro to computer science course. We were partners on our final project for that class, which was to create an artificial intelligence to play a game, which would then compete against those of other students. I remember one late night working on that project with him at Middlebrook Hall. I was hopelessly lost in the complexity of our own creation, but he managed to push the project over the finish line, and we ended up placing near the top of the class. He was such a smart guy. He was always my preferred lab partner in the classes we had together, not just for his intelligence, but also for his sense of humor and his ability to help me relax when I was stressed about the project. We continued to grow closer throughout college, and we were roommates for two years in a house in the Como neighborhood. I was so lucky to have a roommate who was also such a good friend. After college, I went to visit him a few times in Seattle. Every time I visited, he was such a gracious host and tour guide, always excited to show me his favorite spots in the city or some beautiful hiking trails. I remember when I visited in the Fall of 2016. He picked me up at the airport early in the morning on a Friday, and we drove a few hours to do some hiking in North Cascades National Park. We got to spend those hours catching up on each other's lives. We then drove back that night to spend time with his friends. He was always able to pack so much into those short trips. He had such an adventurous personality, and I wouldn't have gotten to do many of the things we did without his influence. I visited him again in the late summer in 2018, this time with my girlfriend, Megan. Again, he was such a generous host, allowing us to stay in his condo with him, and driving the three of us to several locations in Mount Rainier National Park, where we hiked several trails and marveled at the ancient trees on the Grove of the Patriarchs trail. It was truly a breathtaking sight, and we were so grateful for Kevin acting as our tour guide. Back in the city, he taught us how to use Lime bikes to see the sights. Unlike me, he was always so current on trends in technology, and it was always enlightening and entertaining to hear how he would describe them. Those are just a few memories of the time I spent with Kevin. I feel so lucky that I got to know him and be his friend. Both Megan and I will miss him so much, and we send our deepest condolences to your entire family and everybody else who loved him."

"I was deeply saddened to hear of Kevin's passing. I fondly remember him from his 5th grade days at Sunny Hollow. He was the Master of our Math Masters team that year. I was not surprised to see that he went on to achieve such success in school and his career. Not only did we share a love of math, but also a love of our national parks. I am sure he very much enjoyed the peace and beauty he experienced exploring the wilderness. My prayers are with your family."

"I am so sorry to hear this sad news. Kevin was my student in IB English and I so enjoyed the bright intellect he brought into my classroom. I also must reminisce about the funny smirks and low laughing we all enjoyed when discussing some of the ?sassier? parts of books like 100 Years of Soliitude. His blushing was my delight! I do remember him from 1,000?s of students I taught. Much love and sympathy to his family. Diane Pulling English Teacher RCHS (retired)"

Lehoan Pham wrote on Mar 16, 2019:

"May your soul in death find the peace it sought in life. You and I met about 10 years ago when we were just kids in college. We were young, on a large campus, and wanted to find somewhere where we belonged. We found that place. We found each other. And, together with Brian Wilkins, we formed a friendship that so many seek, yet few ever obtain. After college, we started to take vacations together. We traded in trips to Blarney for dancing the days and nights away in Vegas; for hiking beautiful trails at Cape Kiwanda; and for traversing the wondrous City of Seattle. But, the true constant was you, Brian, and I were all together. Just as we were when we first met. Recently, your brothers gathered and celebrated your life. We celebrated our time with the ?Haff.? We reminisced about our fondest memories of you. Each story had one constant: your presence brought immense joy and laughter. We also shared the pain that we felt because you are no longer here. Everyone?s pain, however, is undeniable proof that your presence and company were invaluable. We only feel that pain because you brought us so much joy, and we?ve all had to accept that you have moved on. You were loved by myself and so many others. You were a great friend and even better man. You were destined to do amazing things throughout your life; not just as part of your job, but to improve humanity as a whole. Your death will not sever the bonds that you created. Nor will it erase our memories of you. Your spirit will be with us during all future trips?whether to Vegas, or some yet-to-be explored destination. Your spirit will continue to remind us that the bonds we have are precious and must be protected. Thank you for being friends with me. Thank you for all the wonderful memories. And so, Kevin, my friend, my brother, may your eternal rest be joyful and peaceful. "
