In loving memory of

Joyce Juleah Hauswirth
September 21, 1931 - March 11, 2019

Joyce Juleah Hauswirth was born on September 21, 1931, the daughter of Earl and Inez (Jones) Johnson in Salem, Oregon. She was a 1949 graduate of Rolf High School. She attended nursing school in Salem, Arkansas where she received her Licensed Practical Nurse certificate in March 1971 from the Arkansas State Board of Nursing.

On June 15, 1949, Joyce was united in marriage to Dean Sumner Hauswirth at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Joyce and Dean lived on the family farm in the Havelock, Iowa area where Joyce helped Dean farm for several years. Joyce worked as a nurse's aide at the Laurens Nursing Home in Laurens, Iowa before moving to Arkansas where she received her LPN and worked at the Salem Nursing Home and the Salem Hospital. She finished her career as an LPN at the Baptist Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas. After she retired she continued to work as an LPN at the Pocahontas Manor, Pocahontas, IA. Joyce found joy in helping others, whether through working as a nurse, witnessing about Christ, or just holding a hand and listening, this was something she continued to do throughout her life.

Joyce was a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church in George, Iowa and regularly attended services at the Goshen Nursing Home in her last two years of life. She was blessed with the gift of music as she sang and played her cello in high school. After high school she was involved in an ensemble group and performed for others. She also enjoyed teaching music, ballroom dancing, playing the piano, organ, and cello. Joyce was an avid gardener as she found joy and comfort in the harvest of God's blessings. Her greatest joy was seeing her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren as she surrounded them with love, encouraged them to do more in life, and to enjoy the gifts God gave them.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Jack (Brenda) of Eaton, OH, Dene of Lakefield, MN, James of Perry, IA, Mary of Lusk, WY, Jonathan (Joann) of Pocahontas, IA, and Joanna of Torrington, WY; 22 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and one brother: Ken Johnson.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Dean; brother, Tommy Johnson; sisters, Karen Johnson and Sylvia Daniels; and brother-in-law, Richard Daniels; grandson, Joey Hauswirth
