Mr. Gary L. Buckles, age 57, died on March 16th, 2019 in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.
He is survived by his older brother I.B. Buckles, III ,sister in law Marcia Buckles, and nephew Indy Buckles of Austin, Texas and younger sister Sherry L. Buckles and brother in law Paul Novak of Raleigh, NC. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Gary was born on March 2, 1962 in New Orleans, Louisiana and graduated from Slidell High School. He lived all over the US doing various jobs and having many adventures. He enjoyed fishing, snow skiing and cooking, was a huge animal lover and his greatest joy was preparing incredible meals for those he loved. His wonderful laugh and big and loving heart will be missed by family and friends.
A memorial service will be planned for some time in the future.

"Gary was my best (guy) friend who I met in Seal Beach, approximately 1994. We spent so much time together and we just were like siblings. He made me laugh and we had so much in common. I will miss him every day, as I did when he moved to Florida. It was so hard to see him go. I am so sorry for you loss of such an amazing man who lit up the room, where ever he went. Could cheer up anyone's day and made the world a better place. We were only months apart in age and yes, he loved cooking for him and I when he lived in the house in College Park East/Seal Beach. We would hang out every weekend there and it was the greatest of times. My funniest memory of Gary that still makes me laugh to this day and I would actually remind him on the phone almost always and we would still laugh all over again, was one time when I had gone to his house and we had made plans to go out for the day. He went to go take a shower and the roommate had taken one first. I was waiting in the living room and he comes out, in his usual exaggerated way and says, "oh my God, you have to see this, come here". I'm already cracking up and walk in the bathroom and he shows me hair in the drain from the male roommate and he starts to pretend that he is throwing up. Gary was just grossed out and he continued to pretend he was throwing up, as he knew he had to extract that hair, before he could took a shower. It was hysterical and I laughed during this whole episode, literally in tear as this went on for about an hour before he could safely take a shower. That was probably the funniest moment of our friendship and it was our "go to", for a good laugh, in any bad time that one of may be having.
