"I had the pleasure of working with Dick for many years on teams that made major revisions to Power Squadron Courses to modernize them. Dick had a clear vision of the right direction to proceed and made important contributions to our educational material. His standards for quality were high. He knew a lot about all things nautical and shared his knowledge with others. He will be missed by everyone who worked with him. My sincere condolences go to Doris and his entire family.."

"Dick has been a neighbour as long as we can remember. We moved into the neighbourhood in 1972 and he was already here. We have known him for a very long time! We wish to convey our condolences to his family. "
"I am so sorry to hear of Dick?s passing. Were I there, I would hug Richard, Laura, and Brigitte. There is no other comfort except for the fact that Dick and Keith can argue into infinity about the right and wrong way to operate a boat safely - neither followed the rules but Dick knew and taught them. He took me on when I didn?t know squat about oceans or boats. It may have saved my life once on the Las Olas river when someone gassed up with a boatful of people. I ran! Goodbye Dick. Now you have to obey the rules! Bob and Julie Niles"
