Lyle W. Foth
July 22, 1932 - April 2, 2019

Lyle W. Foth, of Antigo, died Tuesday, April 2, 2019, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. He was 86 years old. He was born on July 22, 1932, in the town of Franzen, Marathon County, a son of the late Edward and Lillian (Breaker) Foth. He married Joan Gress on October 13, 1956, at St. John Lutheran Church in Polar. She survives.

Lyle served in the United States Air Force in South Korea from 1951 to 1955.

Mr. Foth worked for Marathon Paper for a few years. He later operated a milk hauling route for 12 years. Lyle owned a beef farm in Polar for over 20 years. He owned and operated, with his wife, the Farmers Meat Market and Hwy 45 Locker in Antigo for many years. Mr. Foth also owned Sundown Valley Supper Club in Polar during that time. In his retirement he drove semi, and Joan accompanied him as a way for them to see the country.

Lyle was a member of St.John's Lutheran Church in Polar and had served on the church council. He was a past commander and member of the Bloecher-Johnson American Legion Post 502 in Wittenberg. He was also a past president and member of the Wisconsin Cattlemen's Association.

Lyle enjoyed gardening, woodworking, winemaking and selling homegrown produce at his roadside stand for a freewill offering.

In addition to his wife, Joan, survivors include a daughter, Lynn (Gary) Allison of Muscatine, IA; a son, Lee (Angela) Foth of Polar; four grandchildren, Nicole (Dave) Sether, Luke Foth, Ben (Katie) Schultz and Dustin (Megan) Foth; five great-grandchildren, Ezra, Kinnick, Linus, Eli and Maggie; three sisters, Dorothy Goerke of Appleton, Eleanor (Elmer) Nueske of Bowler and Norma Naef of Great Falls, MO; a brother, Kenneth (Joanne) Foth of Appleton; and a brother-in-law Elmer Marx of Appleton.

He was preceded in death by four sisters, Marjorie Krischer, Vivian Marx, Loretta Kassube and Maranda Sykes; and four brothers, Harvey, Howard, Eugene, and Allen.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 6 at 11:30 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Polar with Vicar Pam Werth officiating. Visitation will be Saturday from 10 a.m. until the 11:30 a.m. service at the church.
