Marilyn Wasson
January 6, 1930 - April 5, 2019

WEST CHESTER - Marilyn Ilene Wasson was born January 6, 1930 in Wellman, Iowa, the daughter of John and Maude (Whetstine) Butterbaugh. On May 26, 1947 she was united in marriage to Leonard Wasson in Iowa City. They lived in the Wellman, Kalona and West Chester communities. She worked for Maple Crest and the Washington West Motel in housekeeping. She enjoyed fishing, garage sales, puzzles and family gatherings. Marilyn passed away on Friday, April 5, 2019, at the United Presbyterian Home in Washington at the age of 89 years.
Marilyn is survived by 2 daughters: Gina Rotenburger and special friend Lee Kubalek of West Chester, Vanessa Wasson and special friend Willie McHugh of West Chester, 11 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 5 great great granchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Leonard, a daughter Shelby, 4 sons-in-law Scott Hotle, Larry Young, Daryl Utzinger, Gerald "Bo" Rotenburger, a grandson, 4 brothers and an infant sister.

Celebration Of Life Service will be held 10:30 am Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at the Powell Funeral Home in Wellman. Pastor Jason Collier will officiate. Burial will be in the Wassonville Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-7 pm Tuesday at the Powell Funeral Home. A general memorial fund has been established.
