Born September 28, 1931, in Emmetsburg, Iowa, Keith Merlin Kerber was the son of John David and Florence (Bell) Kerber. He received his education in Emmetsburg, then served in the United States Army from 1952 through 1954.
On April 14, 1955, Keith was united in marriage to Ruth Ann Laubenthal. The couple was blessed with four children, Karen, Kent, Dan, and Dale. They farmed for many years in the Emmetsburg area. Keith and Ruth's marriage of nearly 64 years provided a beautiful example of devotion and commitment and left a lasting legacy of love.
Keith was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing, and passed his love of the outdoors along to his children. Together they made many happy memories enjoying each other's company in the great outdoors.
Keith Kerber, age 87, died Sunday, April 7, 2019, at Lakeside Lutheran Home in Emmetsburg.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth; four children, Karen (David) Beranek of Sioux Falls, SD, Kent Kerber and special friend Melodie Cooper of Emmetsburg, Dan (Marilee) Kerber of Greenfield, and Dale (Annette) Kerber of Sioux Falls, SD; 10 grandchildren, Matt Beranek of Sioux Falls, SD, Rachel (Alex) Hagen of Fairbanks, AK, Jeremy Kerber of Council Bluffs, Amanda Kerber of Auburn, Melissa (Carter) Kinney of Lohrville, Talli (Jesse) Ramey of Orient, Chris (Ali) Kerber of Greenfield, Sara (Kyle) Thompson of Fontanelle, and Carter Kerber and Cali Kerber, both of of Sioux Falls, SD; five great-grandchildren, Bellamy Kinney, Capri Ramey, Colt Ramey, Cash Ramey, and Evan Kerber; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family members.
Keith was preceded in death by his parents, John and Florence Kerber; three brothers, Winston, Lyndon, and Wayne Kerber; and a sister, Lois Borchardt.
Joyce Funeral Home of Emmetsburg has been entrusted with the care of Keith and his family.
