David Allen Zahradnek
October 4, 1956 - April 9, 2019

KALONA - David Allen Zahradnek was born October 4, 1956 in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Lyle "Hoot" and Phyllis (Spenner) Zahradnek. He graduated from Mid-Prairie High School in 1974. On September 21, 1975 Dave was united in marriage to Debra Hobbs, she passed away on February 10, 2005. Dave was united in marriage to Claudine Miller in 2006 and she passed away in 2015. On November 19, 2018 Dave was united in marriage to Colette Yoder. Dave was a truck driver for County Lane Eggs, Yoder Feeds and Wellman Produce. He enjoyed collecting gas cans and anything gas related, going to flea markets and antiquing. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. Dave passed away suddenly on Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics in Iowa City at the age of 62 years.
Dave is survived by his wife Colette Yoder of Kalona, a son Clint Zahradnek of San Antonio, TX; three step sons: Kevin Cortum of Kalona, Sean Cortum of Washington and Ryan Cortum of Kalona, his mother Phyllis Zahradnek of Kalona, a brother Ed (Serena) Zahradnek of Kalona, two nephews: Jerry (Traci) Zahradnek of Kalona and Jake (Jenny Sexton) Zahradnek of Kalona, a niece Jessie Zahradnek of Kalona and 2 great nieces and a great nephew: Maddi, Shelby and Jackson. He was preceded in death by his father Lyle "Hoot", and his wives Debra Hobbs and Claudine Miller.


Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday, April 12, 2019, at the Yoder-Powell Funeral Home in Kalona. Pastor Betsey Sue Neipert will officiate. Burial will be in the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at the Yoder-Powell Funeral Home in Kalona.
