In loving memory of

June O. Teachout
October 4, 1927 - April 12, 2019

June Olive Teachout, daughter of Robert Bruce and Mary L. (Pritchard) Thyer, was delivered by her father and grandmother at home on October 4, 1927 in rural Essex, Iowa. She passed away on April 12, 2019 in Shenandoah, Iowa. She had attained the age of 91.

On September 14, 1947, she was united in marriage to Kenneth George Teachout in Shenandoah, Iowa. This union was blessed by two children, Kenneth Daniel and Roberta Marie. June attended school at Goff Country School and then Farragut School where she graduated valedictorian from the 8th grade. She then moved to an apartment with two other young ladies to attend Shenandoah High School where she studied bookkeeping. As a girl she enjoy her pets and riding her pony, Lady, to school. She participated in basketball and volleyball at Farragut School.

She worked for Tyler Brothers Bottling Company for over 60 years, as seasonal help at Uncle George's Turkey farm, as well as working the family farm with Kenny. She spent many years as a 4-H leader in Fremont County and teaching Sunday school at the United Methodist Church in Shenandoah. She volunteered at Hand Community Hospital. She also participated in the O.D.O. (Our Day Out) Club with her local neighbor ladies.

She supported her husband's barbed-wired collecting by traveling to shows with him and making many life-long friends in the process. She was known as an excellent cook, had a love for gardening, birds, windmills, and flowers. She felt that history, especially family history, was important. Her children and grandchildren have many memories of traipsing around cemeteries to learn about the generations that had already passed. The highlight of her life was her family especially her grandchildren, great grandchildren and constant companion, her dog Bouncer. Special thanks to Rose Jordan for her devotion and care for June.

Preceding June in death were her parents, infant brother, husband, Kenneth, her son K. Dan, brothers-in-law Richard Teachout, Dale Morrison, and Kenneth Dahl, and Sister-in-law Marie Dahl.
