Lois M. Wurster, 95, of Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away on Sunday morning, April 14, 2019, at Guttenberg Care Center in Guttenberg, Iowa.

A celebration of her life will be held at 11 A.M., Saturday, JUNE 1, 2019, at Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa, Iowa. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10 A.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Cremation has taken place and a private burial will be held at the Elwood, Iowa Cemetery at a later date.

Lois was born on December 10, 1923 in Jackson County, Iowa, the second youngest of nine of Lewis and Bertha (Downer) Bock's children. She was the last to die of the family. She attended Baldwin school and had many stories about getting to school when Bear Creek would flood. She enjoyed playing Basketball for Baldwin along with her sister Dorothy. Bertha always won the prize at church for the most daughters at the Mother's Day event. Lois enjoyed playing with her brother Harold and Dorothy at the Eden Valley bluffs.

Her husband Max died suddenly on October 21, 1982 after suffering a heart attack. She became an independent woman and managed the Farm until it was sold in 1995. To keep fit she walked many laps at the local Walmart store.

Lois loved cooking for the family and was very creative with pressed flower pictures that she entered into the Jackson County Fair each year. She won many blue ribbons with her framed pictures. She equally enjoyed dancing in Arizona and the Quad cities and was an excellent dancer. She and her dancing partner would always turn heads when they watched them dance.

Her smile and kind ways will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Those left to honor her memory include three children, William (Susan) Wurster of Saint Louis Park, MN, Julie (Scott) Hersey of Eagan, MN, and David (Suzanne) of Tigard, OR; 5 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 3 brothers, 5 sisters, 1 unnamed baby girl and 1 granddaughter.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be made to the Guttenberg Care Center, Alzheimer's Association or the American Cancer Society.

"I am so sorry to see that your mom has passed. I have vivid memories of playing at your house on a Saturday while Lois baked rolls and sweet rolls in her kitchen. We would beg her for just one! So much fun on our family get-togethers. I express my deepest sympathies to all of your family. And I know Mom would if she could."
