Sonja Elaine Beaty
Canton - Sonja Elaine Beaty (nee Taylor), of Haffner Boulevard, entered her Lord's eternity at age 74, on Sunday, April 14, 2019 after many health challenges.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Jennings R. Beaty Jr., of over 52 years. Her survivors also include three children: Catherine Beaty Surowka (Griffin), of Richmond, Virginia: Christopher Raymond Beaty (Veronica), of Virginia Beach, Virginia: and Craig Hunter Beaty (Diana), of Canton, Illinois. She was blessed with seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Sonja is also survived by three brothers, William Wayne Taylor, of Virginia Beach, Virginia; James Robert Taylor Sr., of Rocky Mount, North Carolina; and Luther Ray Taylor Jr., of Hanover, Pennsylvania, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Our Memories of Sonja will forever supply peace, comfort, and expectation of seeing her again.
Sonja was a courageous person blessed with an inspiring sense of humor. She must have pleased God greatly as she always honored her mother and father; because of love and what God wanted of her Sonja was a faithful wife and mother. She cared deeply for her husband and children. Her love for her husband and his love for her is rarely equaled, and their love for each other was carried over to her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and her extended family. Always faithful and true through rough and smooth times; an example set for many. God's holy word says it correctly, "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints." Sonja's loving family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her memory, to the Illinois Cancer Care Center at illlinoiscancercarefoundation.org.
A burial of Sonja's ashes will be held at a later date at her family cemetery in North Carolina.

"I wanted to share my last conversation with Aunt Sonja. I had told her that Ken and I had set a date for our wedding. It was to be 10-3-2020. She told me how she would love to be there but may not be able to make the trip. I told her no worries! I will bring my wedding gown to her and put it in and we will celebrate with her in Illinois! She said I love you so much. I can still hear her saying those words. I will never forget the love she showed me and how she touched my life. "
"Jennings, Cathy, Chris, Craig, Wayne, Buck, Lukie and the rest of our family....I?m so sorry about Sonja?s passing. I will always remember her as a happy cousin whenever we visited when I was younger and one that loved her family very much. She will no longer suffer from health challenges or pain. I know you are hurting and will miss her terribly. But this is not goodbye...it is just ?until we see you again?. Lots of love and prayers, Kelly and Kim"
