Funeral Services will be held on Friday evening, April 19, 2019 at 5:00 p.m. at the Hackett-Livingston Funeral Home. Graveside Services will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at the Wyuka Cemetery in Nebraska City.

Memorials may be directed to Accura Health Care in Stanton, Iowa.

Teruko "Terri" Major of Shenandoah died on Tuesday, April 16th at the Accura Healthcare facility at the age of 87.

She was born in Nagoya, Japan on January 6th, 1932 and was the daughter of Katsuuemon and Kiwa Iwasa. On May 14, 1963 she married Clarence William Major of Tabor, IA. Teruko grew up in Nagoya, Japan. She attended Takami Primary School, Takami Junior High School and Sugiyama High School. She met Clarence while working as a cashier at the Base Exchange at Tachikawa Air Force Base in Tokyo, Japan. They were married on May 14, 1963 in Tokyo. To this marriage two sons were born, Thomas and Robert. They moved to Shenandoah, IA after Clarence's retirement from the Air Force.

She was a dedicated and loving wife and mother. While raising her family she worked at NSK Corporation in Clarinda, IA, retiring in 1994. In retirement she enjoyed traveling, bowling, sewing, tending to her flowers, and most importantly spending time with her grandchildren.

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Clarence; her brother Toshiharu and her sister Saya.
Those left behind to cherish her memory include her son Thomas, his wife Vicki, granddaughter Jennifer, her husband Corbin Moody and grandson Bradley all of Shenandoah, IA; her son Robert, his wife Sally, granddaughters Natalie and Allison, and grandson Kenton all of Nashville, TN; brother-in-law Donald Major of Burlington Junction, MO; sister-in-law Dixie Major of Essex, IA; special friend Jerry Burroughs of Shenandoah, IA and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
