William "Bill" Lindgren
July 15, 1944 - April 29, 2019

Funeral services for William "Bill" Lindgren will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 4, 2019, at the First Presbyterian Church with Pastor Walter Reemtsma officiating. Burial will be in the Riverview Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Friday, May 3, 2019, at Oakcrest Funeral Services in Algona.

William Ward Lindgren was born July 15, 1944, in Sergeant Bluff, Iowa, the son of Conrad and Alliene (Baker) Lindgren. He grew up and attended school, graduating from the Sergeant Bluff Luton High School in 1962. Bill served in the National Guard before continuing his education at Iowa State University, where he graduated with an Ag Business Degree in 1966.

On August 5, 1967, Bill was united in marriage to Ruth Geerdes in George, Iowa. After their marriage they lived in Slater where Bill was working. They later moved to Algona where Bill started a wholesale chemical company. From there Bill started four different companies, upon selling them he started farming his own land full time and found his true passion. He was involved with the farming until his death.

Bill loved the time he was able to spend with his family, especially his grandchildren, as they were always looking for the next adventure. He also enjoyed the time he was able to spend farming, hunting, fishing, playing cards, making maple syrup, gardening, traveling and boating with family and friends. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where he had served as a Deacon in the past.

Bill died Monday, April 29, 2019, at the Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona, Iowa. He was 74.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth of Algona; daughters, Angie and husband, Scott Bleich of Ames; Jill and husband, Al Witt of Osage; grandchildren, Sophia, Logan and Alexis Bleich; Addy, Riley, Regan, Ava and Reece Witt. Also surviving is a sister, Janis and husband, Boyd Harman of Glenview, IL; brother, Jerry and wife, Doris Lindgren of Sioux City.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

"I met Bill through Wayne T Hansen we crushed gravel in his pit and took a grove out of a farm that he bought he was raising melons at the Gravel Pit at the time we were crushing there so Bill would give us Melons to take Home they were the best.R.I.P My Friend you will be missed!! Steve Krapp!!"
