Phyllis I. Potter, 88, of St. Charles died Thursday, May 2, 2019 at Mayo Clinic Hospitals, St. Mary's Campus Rochester. Phyllis was born June 3, 1930 in Peterson to Oscar and Minda (Benson) Holtegaard. On July 9, 1950 Phyllis married Jim Potter. They made their home in St. Charles. For many years Phyllis worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company, before staying home to raise their daughter, Julie. Phyllis later worked for Mayo Clinic in housekeeping. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in St. Charles. Phyllis had a passion for golf and bowling, at which she excelled. She enjoyed crafts, sewing, macramé and planting her flowers. The Minnesota Twins were her number one team, watching every game she could on TV. Stella, her miniature schnauzer will miss being pampered and spoiled by Phyllils.
Phyllis is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Steve Herrick, her grandsons, T.J. (Megan) Herrick and Cody (Hannah) Herrick a great-grandson Tucker Herrick and a sister Myrtle Hatlevig of Lanesboro. She was preceded in death by her husband Jim in 2011, six brothers; Odin, Art, Leonard, Connie, Raymond and Irvin and sisters Benora Smith and Alette Hatlevig.
Services to remember Phyllis will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at Hoff Funeral and Cremation Service in St. Charles, with the Reverend Waldemar Gies of Faith Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery at a later date. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday and 10-11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
