"Pops I?m glad I had the opportunity to be apart of your life and your family lives. Your presence here on this earth will be missed. Our prayers are with your family, love Clive (aka junior) & Cheryl Whilby"
On Sunday, January 28, 1940 Natalie Nelson and Stephen Johns were blessed when they welcomed their first born, Norman Edward Johns in to the world and into their arms. Norman Edward Johns was born in the district of Burnt Savannah, in the parish of Westmoreland, Jamaica. His earliest education was received when he attended the Mount, Grace Primary School. He then went on to Frome Secondary School for his tertiary training where his creative interest began to develop. He consequently went on to become a tailor by trade and this became his life time career. In 1964, Norman met the love of his life, the beautiful and petite Linet Williams and it was love at first sight.
In the quest for a better life for his family, in 1966, Norman traveled to the Bahamas where he worked as a tailor at Kings Inn Laundry. He and Linet were married on November 23, 1968 and together between them produced and raised nine children.
The family then migrated to the United States where they resided permanently, with Norman opening his own Laundromat business in Miami, Florida and made a success of it until he retired. Even after retirement, with the drive to keep active, Norman sought and acquired employment at Loxley's Alterations which turned out to be his last job.
His passing has left a void not only for his immediate family and friends but also to the many persons, customers and associates whom he met in his professional life.
Norman Johns leaves to mourn his beloved wife Linet, daughters Paulet Stewart(Gerard Stewart/Bobby), Patrice Campbell(Maxwell Campbell), Viviene Bent(Horace Bent/Peter), Michelle Gregory(Nigel Gregory), Debbie Miller(Milton Miller), Sandy Irving(Greg Irving) and son Michael Johns. Six sons-in law, twenty three grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, brother David Samuel Tomlinson, numerous extended family members, friends and associates.
The Johns family would like to express their gratitude and thanks for the love and support which have been shown to them in this their time of bereavement. To those of you who took the time to attend this thanksgiving service we are eternally gratefully.
May his soul rest in peace.
