Dennis Stephen Crawford
January 18, 1948 - May 21, 2019

Dennis Stephen Crawford, 71, of New London, died Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at his home. He was born January 18, 1948 in Washington, Iowa to Van Stephen and Donna Jean Morgan Crawford. On November 2, 1968, he married Linda Jean White in Mt. Pleasant and left for Vietnam two weeks later, serving for three years, followed by several years in the National Guard.
He attended Mt. Pleasant High School; was of the Christian faith; and was a member of Mt. Pleasant VFW. Dennis was on the New London Fire Department years ago, worked for Primary Oil and retired as custodian at New London Schools. He enjoyed adult coloring, camping, hunting, fishing and mushroom hunting.
Besides his wife, Dennis is survived by three children; Tina Chatman and Tania (Patrick) Moffett, both of New London and Chad (Jessica) Crawford of Higbee, MO.; ten grandchildren; Cody Moffett, Keli (Kyle) Nichting, Tyler, Aubrey, Cameron, Chandler, Chloe, Chad Jr., Celton, and Emory Crawford; two great-grandchildren; Maverick Lyhne and Evelyn Nichting; and one brother, Michael Crawford of Burlington; and his beloved dog, Princess. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Nancy.
According to his wishes, his body has been cremated. There will be a celebration of life at 1:00 on June 1st at the New London Community Center with Pastor Rod Cooper officiating. "So sorry to hear about Dennis. I remember you guys at gramma and grandpa Morgans on all the holidays. Monte and mom would bring us to Hillsboro so much fun. We always thought Dennis built the best snow forts. My family often talks about all the fun we always had at the family gatherings. Please know our thoughts and prayers are with you. With deepest sympathy Martha Porter Karl Davey Elizabeth Stevie Robbie. Julia passed away a couple years after Monte passed away but always you all are always in our prayers and thoughts."
