Marie Antoinette (King) Toews, 91 of Rochester, passed away on May 27, 2019 at her home. She was born on June 15, 1927 in Enderlin, ND to Charles and Jennie (Patterson) King.
Marie graduated from Mankato High School and received her bachelor's degree from Winona State University. She married Alquinn Toews on June 2, 1948 in Mankato, MN. Marie taught for many years for the Rochester public schools. On December 29, 2012, she married Ron Andersen in Rochester. Marie was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and sang in the church choir, as well as being a long-time member of Eastern Star. She enjoyed reading, watching movies, traveling, spending time with her family, and lounging at the lake cabin. After retirement, many winters were spent in Sun City, AZ.
Survivors include her husband, Ron Andersen of Rochester; two daughters, Jeanne Carter of Sioux Falls, SD and Annette Toews (Bob Hicks) of Saint Paul, MN; one grandson, Christopher (Bridget) Carter of Rochester and two great grandsons, Ian and David; one sister, Jennette Dittman of Fargo, ND; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Rev. Alquinn Toews; son, Richard Toews; sisters Kathlyn Lundgren Lee and Genevieve King; son-in-law, David Carter; and two brothers-in-law, Richard Dittman and George Lundgren.
The family will have private graveside services.
