Doris Ann Hayward
January 29, 1943 - May 31, 2019

Doris Ann Hayward, 76, of Preston, Iowa, passed away on Friday morning, May 31, 2019, at the Jackson County Regional Health Center in Maquoketa, Iowa.

Friends and family may gather in remembrance of Doris on Friday, June 7, 2019, from 4 to 7 P.M. at Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. Cremation will follow the gathering, and a private burial will be held at the Preston, Iowa Cemetery, at a later date.

Doris Ann Johnson was born on January 29, 1943 in Maquoketa, Iowa, to William Theodore and Venieta Louise (Peoples) Johnson. She was a 1961 graduate of Andrew High School. She married Ronald Allen Hayward on June 2, 1963 at the Salem Lutheran Church in Andrew, Iowa.

Doris had first worked at the Green Mill Café in Maquoketa. She then worked for Meinerz Creamery in Preston for 21 years, Beatrice Cheese in Preston, and lastly for Web Printing in Maquoketa.

Doris had attended St. John's Lutheran Church in Preston but through the years also had ties to the Episcopal Church. She was an avid collector of both, Isabel Blooms with 273 of them, and cookbooks with 4,053 of them.

Those left to honor her memory include her husband Ronald Hayward of Preston, IA; children, Douglas Hayward of Rock Island, IL, Beth Ann Hayward of Preston, IA, and Crystal (Shawn) Gaskins of Rock Island, IL; and 2 grandchildren, Nicole Gaskins and Christian Gaskins. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Allan William Hayward, a brother Ronald Johnson, and a grandchild Avery Gaskins.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a Doris Ann Hayward memorial fund has been established.

"So sorry for your loss. I knew Doris & Ron from Web Printing. She was the hardest worker. And she would do stuff at work to help others that was really not her job. She loved helping others. She gave me a rooster window decor , I still have & love. She knew I collected roosters. GOD BLESS!"
