As young cousins, I remember imaginative play times in our old pump house shed that we turned into a school or a restaurant or whatever crossed our minds that day! Very competitive croquet games in the yard also come to mind, my brother Greg and Kathy's brother Randy always seemed to win...leaving us girls to be good sports! Kathy Ellen (Elwood) Larson 66, of Bloomfield, Iowa passed away on June 1, 2019 at the Select Specialty Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa from pneumonia and end stage kidney disease.
Kathy was born on September 6, 1952 in Buffalo Center, Iowa to the late Verle and Carolyn (Schaumberg) Elwood.
She graduated in 1971 from Buffalo Center High School and married Randy Boeckholt in September of the same year. They had two sons, Troy Lee and Anthony Scott. She worked at several nursing homes and had other miscellaneous jobs over the years.
She loved fishing and anything artistic. She was able to crochet and knit without needing a pattern. In the last few years, she enjoyed the adult coloring books. Keeping up with the fashion trends was always important to her. The staff, at the nursing homes where she lived, wanted to go shopping in her closet.
She is survived by her son's: Troy (Lisa) Boeckholt of Kensett, IA and Tony Boeckholt of Forest City, IA. Sisters: Marcia Aukes, Buffalo Center, IA and Ilonna Hutchins, Garner, IA. Grandchildren: Kyra Boeckholt, Savannah Boeckholt, Tyler Strand, and Seth Strand. Nephew: Lucas Peterson. Nieces:Teri (James) Bohl, Kelli (Vincent) Trent, Cari (Andrew) Aukes.
She is preceded in death by her Parents, Brother: Randy Elwood, Sister: Vicki Peterson, Nephew: Cody Aukes, Grandparents: Frank and Mary (Schaefer) Elwood and August and Fannie (Boeckholt) Schaumberg.
