In loving memory of

Laxmidas Khakhria, M.D.
February 18, 1943 - June 6, 2019

Laxmidas Amarshilal Khakhria (1943-2019)

Lakhu bhai or Dr. K, as he was fondly known, was born in Bombay but spent his childhood in Mbeya and Dar -es- Salaam, Tanzania. He returned to Bombay and completed Medical school in 1970. After marrying Jyotibala, they moved to Kenya where they spent their early years in smaller towns before finally settling in Eldoret to raise their family Milan, Silan and Meera. Here he established a thriving practice and even a hospital. He was heavily involved in the community through the Lohana community and Rotary Club. He discovered his love for playing cards in Eldoret. In 2005 he decided to retire and moved to Florida following his son and daughter. He was not one to retire quietly. Once he came to FT. Lauderdale he quickly began to create a loyal circle of friends. He became very involved in the Mandir, helping found the Jalaram section of the Mandir and establishing a regular day for Jalaram prayers. He also turned his eye to the local Lohana population and decided they had to become an organized group, meeting every year to celebrate Diwali. He continued his cards obsession here too. By pure force of personality he always gets those around him to follow in his love of life, food and friends, wherever he went. But his grandkids are what made his eyes sparkle the most. He is survived by his wife-Jyotibala; son- Milan, daughter in law-Priti; daughters- Silan and Meera, sons in law- Rakesh and Michael; and grandchildren - Jaimin, Shail, Rohan, Sonia, Mehal, Mihir.

Funeral at Fred Hunter's Saturday June 8th, 11.30 am. 6301 Taft street, Hollywood, FL 33024.
