Tillie I. Salemno
January 31, 1929 - June 5, 2019

Tillie I. Salemno, age 90, of Fort Washington, died peacefully on Wednesday, June 5, 2019, her loving family at her side.

Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Mary Widziak.

Tillie attended Simon Gratz High School. She was a food service worker for Upper Dublin School District for 24 years prior to her retirement in 1996. She also worked for St. Alphonsus Elementary School's food service from 1964 to 1972. In the summers, Tillie would operate Lulu Country Club's snack bar. Tillie had a deep love and devotion for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, always putting everyone else first before herself. She loved baking, with a passion for making cookies of all kinds, chocolate chip, butter cookies with jimmies, and pizzelles. Her special pound cake was always a big hit. Tillie also loved cooking Italian and Polish meals - chicken cutlet parmesan, sauce, meatballs and spaghetti for Sunday dinner, chicken cacciatore for Pete, Sr. her husband, pierogies and kapusta. She loved playing Bingo and went to Bingo nights at area churches. In addition, she enjoyed doing scratch-off lottery tickets. Along with her husband Pete, Sr., Tillie enjoyed going camping and going on vacations with Frank and Bev and their family, including a four generation trip to Walt Disney World.

Tillie was predeceased in death by her beloved husband Peter in 2018, two grandsons, Michael and Tommy; and two granddaughters, Angela and Maria.

Tillie is the loving mother of Peter M. Salemno, Jr. (Kathleen) of Lansdale; Frank Salemno (Beverly) of Montgomeryville; John Salemno (Linda) of Perkasie; Thomas Salemno (Patty) of Harleysville; Regina Plesser (Jeffrey) of Lansdale; and Linda DeMenna of E. Falmouth, MA. She is the dear grandmother of 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, June 11, 2019 from 10:30 to 11:30 AM at the Anton B. Urban Funeral Home, 1111 S. Bethlehem Pike, Ambler, PA 19002. Tillie's Funeral Service will begin at 11:30 AM officiated by Rev. Stephen Paolino. Interment will be in Whitemarsh Memorial Park.
