Dorothy Mae (Todd) Baker, 85, of Burlington, Iowa died Monday, June 10, 2019 at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington, Iowa
Born January 27, 1934 in Burlington, Iowa she was the daughter of Milford Mehaffy and Margaret Ethel (Cummings) Todd. She married Ervin Louis Baker on July 15, 1951 in the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.
She was a 1951 graduate of Yarmouth High School. Mrs. Baker worked at Sylvania for a short time before becoming a mother and helping her husband on the farm.
She was an active member of TTT for 25 years, a member of the First United Methodist Church of Yarmouth until it closed and then began attending church at the First United Methodist Church of Mediapolis.
She enjoyed being with her family, SCC Basketball games, watching Iowa and Iowa State football games and basketball. She loved watching her grandchildren participate in activities. She enjoyed tending to flowers and was known to have a green thumb and loved bird watching. She was an excellent cook and cooked many meals for the people that helped on the farm.
Survivors include her husband Ervin Baker of Burlington; one daughter, Lynn (Dan) Egan of Burlington; two sons, David (Kathy) Baker of Morning Sun, Iowa and Kelly (Deb) Baker of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; ten grandchildren, Jared (Sarah) Godbey, Travis (Joanna) Godbey, Katie Godbey, Jacob (Annalicia) Wischmeier, Audra (Bryan) Spears, Brandon (Jenny) Egan, Emily (Devon) Baker, Kyle (Kim) Baker, Ashlee (Grant) Whipple, and Clay (Olivia) Baker; 18 great grandchildren; one brother Harold "Charlie" Todd of Morning Sun, Iowa; two sisters, Mary Beth Johnson of Madison, Wisconsin and Shirley Nott of North Liberty, Iowa; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter Jennifer Godbey, three brothers, Ralph Todd, Don Todd and Bruce Todd, two sisters, Martha Todd in infancy and Marilyn Bozman and one son-in-law Chuck Godbey.
The funeral service for Mrs. Baker will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 15th at Lunning Chapel. The Rev. Clay Baker will officiate. Interment will be held in Elmwood Cemetery, Morning Sun. Friends may call from noon until 5:00 p.m. Friday, June 14th at Lunning Chapel. There will be no family visitation.
Memorials have been established for the Great River Hospice House, the Elmwood Cemetery Association or to the St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
