"I had the privilege of growing up just a few miles from Robert out in the country, in the small community of Dundee and Black Flat in Archer County, Texas. We went to school together in Holliday and graduated in 1984. When I think of Robert, in my mind's eye I see the cute little boy that he was, climbing on the school bus with his hair all slicked back and combed just so. I remember how proud I was for him as he put himself through college and chased his dream to go to UT. When I think of all he accomplished and the family he so cherished, I am reminded of the roots we share. We grew up in a close-knit community of dirt farmers, cattle ranchers and oilfield workers, where families stuck together through all of life's circumstances and where neighbors looked after each other. For example, I remember his dad having lunch at my house as he and other men/neighbors helped my dad work his cattle; in turn, each rancher traded his labor until everyone's work was done. Reading the other tributes, I know that Robert carried that same heart for family and neighbors into his own adult life. I loved him like another brother, and I will always cherish the friendship we shared. My heart goes out to Sara, his precious children and the rest of his family. May the tender love and grace of Jesus be enough for each day as you move through these very difficult days."

"Robert was a friend of mine from college in Wichita Falls. He was probably one of the the nicest people I have ever know. Had a great positive outlook and always had a smile on his face. I send my deepest sympathies to his family!"

"I had the privilege of working with Robert for a few years and in that time I developed such a deep respect for him. One of the most challenging lessons Ive had to learn is how to balance my professional and family life - and yet somehow Robert always seemed to throw the full weight of his heart and mind into every aspect of his life. There are many men that I respect professionally, and many that I respect as husbands and fathers. I respected Robert in all of these roles and thats an incredibly rare and beautiful thing."

"I first met Rob when he returned to Spiceworks for the 3rd time, on his first day he introduced himself to me (a fresh face myself) and asked if I was an intern (it was our intern season). He also checked out my standup desk and seemed to approve it. I thought he was such a warm and humble person and was looking forward to getting to know him better. Now all I will remember of him is his smile. Love, Judy"

"Just one of the greatest persons I've ever met. I'm shocked, saddened, and speechless. Robert approached me years ago about a job at UT and while he never took the job, we became great friends. Robert was a tremendous service to the University. He singlehandedly built the first UT official app. Over the years, I've offered him a job countless times and he never accepted but it always became a running joke for me to offer him a job when we got together. Even today, he still was helping out with the current app. All the love to his wife and kids. Your husband, your dad was a great, great guy."

"Robert was one of the greatest human beings I've ever had the pleasure of meeting and getting to know well. He mentored me when I was starting a new work path and was always there with a patient ear and a helpful hand. My life in Austin has been shaped a great deal by the times I spent with Robert. He lived life in the best way possible and I've always admired him for that. I miss you dearly friend."

"I will always remember Robert for his love of life and the way that he shared it with everyone around him. I will never forget the time that we were talking just before Christmas several years ago, and Robert realized that I didn't have any family or friends in town to celebrate Christmas with. He said, "You're not going to spend Christmas day alone. You can celebrate with us and Sarah's family." That's the kind of person Robert was. He sincerely and genuinely cared for others and gave freely of himself, living out his faith in everything he did. I will miss you friend..."

"Robert and I grew up together in the very small communities of Dundee and Black Flat and later went through grades 1-12 at Holliday High School. Robert was one of the smartest guys I've ever known. Robert had a unique sense of humor and was always making me laugh with his jokes and vocal impressions. He will truely be missed. I will see you on the other side my friend."

"Robert - You will be missed, my friend. Fortunately my memory to share is quite recent. Our night ride on the new trail was epic. Then the pint after and planning our next ride was even better. Your strava rides with GoBob were always the best to see and reminded me what a good father you were. I'm struggling with your passing, but I know you're up there with the big guy laying out a sweet course to ride. I wish you clear trails and good flow. D.D."
