In loving memory of

Alicia Aida Leal
January 9, 1929 - November 17, 2013

Alicia Magel Mac-Beath Leal graced this earth from January 9, 1929 until November 17, 2013. As a native of Cuba, she made Austin her home and eagerly enriched the lives of many through her art, faith and love of family and friends.Alicia was a woman of quiet strength and humility. She worked gently and persistently to teach intellectually challenged children and adults to discover and create art. She lovingly embraced being a mom and raised three talented children, Alicia Bogart, Enidio Magel, and Maria Eugenia Clendennen who married devoted sons and daughter-in-law, Bruce Bogart, Mary Wilson Magel and Wayne Clendennen respectively. She eagerly devoted her life to the care and development of her grandchildrens physical and spiritual lives, Nicolet Morgan, Alex Clendennen, Missy Magel, Brian Bogart and Lauren Clendennen. Her philosophy was simple to love unconditionally, passionately, accept who you are and cherish the opportunity to live!Alicia was an admiring sister-in-law and aunt to the De La Cruz family and leaves behind her siblings Maria Luisa, Mirtha, Ciria, Luis, and her beloved nieces and nephews. Alicia was also a long companion and friend to Yolanda Sharp. She brightened any space with her beautiful melodic voice and significantly enhanced the Magels family musical legacy. As we reflect on her life, we are given plenty of examples of how she converted her deep love and devotion to God into acts of kindness and support for others. She shared her life with her brothers and sisters in Christ at St. Louis Catholic Church where she was the founder of the Spanish Prayer Group and a faithful participant in the churchs choir. Alicia supported many people through seminary schools, small business ventures, and by lending a hand to immigrants and many others in need of help. We are humbled by the quiet acts of love that she shared with so many. Her beautiful soul will be deeply missed. As a family, we want to express our deepest thanks to our community of friends and family for your enthusiastic recognition and celebration of Alicias life. We invite you to share your stories with us and to always remember her infectious laughter. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, November 25, 2013, at St. Louis Catholic Church, 7601 Burnet Road, Austin, Texas. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to The Missy Project, Hospice Austin or one of your preferred organization. Death is an ending to the son of the earth, but to the soul it is the start, the triumphs of a life Kahlil Gibran
