Walter Henry Sauer
December 21, 1929 - December 26, 2012

Walter Henry Sauer, 83, of Austin passed away on Wednesday, December 26, 2012, at South Austin Hospital in Austin, Texas.Walter was born on December 21, 1929, in Fowler, Colorado to Walter Henry Sauer, Sr. and Lena Fellhauer Sauer. He was a son of German immigrants and grew up on a farm in Colorado. He later joined the United States Air Force and was a retired Master Sergeant in the Vietnam War. Walter was also a retired Electrician with the Internal Revenue Service.Survivors include his wife of fifty-nine years, Elfriede Mller Sauer of Austin; son, Andrew Sauer and wife Marie of Cedar Park, Texas; daughters, Christina Sauer-Dechant and husband Kevin of Dublin, Ireland, Katherine Sauer-Bishop and husband Jeremy of Hoodriver, Oregon and Lisa Meeks and her husband Doug of Austin; grandchildren, Ava and Sena; step-grandchildren, Jason, Bill, Well, Sophie and Matthew; great grandson, Emerson; three sisters, Genevieve Buffalow, Josephine Dufoe and Molly Petrie. Walter was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, June Plymell and his brother, George Sauer. A gathering of friends and family will take place on Saturday, December 29, 2012, from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Harrell Funeral Home in Austin.
