Buck was called to heaven on Friday, October 8, 2010 at the age of 88.A" Greatest Generation" hero of WWII, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in l940 by misrepresenting his age. Like so many who wanted to preserve our freedoms, Buck answered the call of duty. He participated in the assault and capture of Guadalcanal, Tulagi, New Georgia, the Solomon Islands and numerous other Pacific battles.Born in Macon, Georgia, he was preceded in death by father, L.B. Cole, Sr., mother, Mildred, and brothers, Benjamin, Ted, and William, and sister Joyce.He is survived by his son, Robert (Bob) Cole and daughter-in-law, Linda, along with grandchildren Jason and Amanda of Austin and nephew, William H. Martin of Stuart, FloridaThe family wishes to thank Helen and Bobby Dockal and the staff of Walnut Hills,Dr. Mike Gutierrez, Sharla Kerslake, RN of Angel Heart Home Hospice and Jason Harrell of the Harrell Funeral Homes along with the great friends of the family who have lifted Buck up in prayer on so many occasions.Reverend Mark Porterfield will conduct a graveside memorial service, with Military Honors, at Ft.
