Britz. An accomplished artist and pianist, Carol was a pioneer for the working woman. In the 1950s and 1960s, she was a graphic and commercial artist working for some of the largest graphic and advertising firms in Chicago, Illinois. After being widowed by Dr. Homer G. Slade, of Saginaw, Michigan, Carol settled down in Austin, Texas in 1989.Although a hard-headed, independent and stubborn Swede, Carol was always available to lend an ear or to give much valuable advice to those who sought it and at times to those who didnt. Intelligent and talented, her wisdom, special gifts and talents will be forever remembered and cherished.Carol is survived by her daughter Sheila Sullivan and her husband Patrick of Carlsbad, California, son Dr. Scott Britz-Cunningham and wife Evelyn of Quincy, MA and daughter Donna Slade and husband Robert Garza of Austin, Texas.Grandchildren are Chris, Alexander, Jennifer, Kimberly, Michael and Jeremy.Great grandchildren are Tyler, Carter and Sophia.The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 16, 2007 at Harrell Funeral Home, Austin, TX.Private graveside service to be held on Thursday, May 17, 2007.Mom, you will be missed more than you will ever know.
