"He is still in our hearts. We miss you Cody."
"We remember Cody. Always. And we pray for you-always. Love to you Russell, Sandy and Ryan."
"Sandy, I remember you just had a birthday-on May 16th I think.....you must have thought of Cody and all his birthday messages and cards to you. He is still doing this Sandy. He is still here with you. This whole first year is running like a blur to you.....but he is still here. I continue to send up my prayers and thoughts to you Sandy and Russell. Cody is never forgotten. Remember, this life is transitory-the real life starts after this eathly one. Just hold on. Keep praying and turning to God. Offer every anger and confusion and sadness and angst and sweet memory up to God Who made you and Cody. God is protecting you all and keeping your family whole. Just carry on and hold up your head. Give your sorrow it's due, and your joy it's due at its given time. God hears and sees this and His plan will prevail and you will not be disappointed. I love you all and I share your pain to this day. Be well and assured. Weep and then dry your tears. They are not unseen and your prayers are not unheard. Keep faithful always. Eileen"
"I am thinking of you and praying for you. Please know that God is with you. He knows your pain and sorrow and so do I. I think of you constantly these days and I want you to know that I share your burden. I hope in some small way to be a reminder that Cody is not forgotten even when you see the world go on. I bow my head to you in this devastation. I am keeping the torch alive for you and Cody. Russell, Sandy-God bless you. When I go to Mass on Sundays I always pray for all of you. Eileen"

Until then, I will try to shape and mold my life to be more like Cody's. He was a respectful, kind, admirable person, and he will be dearly missed. I LOVE Y'ALL SO MUCH!!"

I am so blessed to know that he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior...we will see him again. I know that our Lord is thrilled to be holding him in the safest arms Cody has ever known. "When tomorrow starts without me, and I'm not there to see. If the sun should rise and find your eyes, all filled with tears for me. I wish so much you wouldn't cry, the way you did today, While thinking of the many things we never got to say. I know how much you love me, as much as I love you.. And each time that you think of me, I know you'll miss me too.. But when tomorrow starts without me, Please try to understand.. An angel came and called my name and took me by the hand, It seemed my place was ready - In Heaven far above, and that I'd have to leave behind, those things I dearly love.. But as I turned to walk away, a tear fell from my eye. For all of life, I'd always thought, I didn't want to die. I had so much to live for, so much yet to do, It seemed almost impossible, that I was leaving you.. I thought of all the yesterdays, the good ones and the bad.. I thought of all the love we shared, and how much fun we had.. If I could relive yesterday, just even for a while, I'd say goodbye, then kiss you ?til I saw that special smile.. But then I fully realized, that it could never be, 'Cause emptiness and memories, would take the place of me. And when I thought of all those things, I might miss come tomorrow, I thought of you, and when I did, my heart was filled with sorrow. . But when I walked through Heaven's gates, I felt so much at home. When God looked down and smiled at me, From his great & golden throne, He said, "This is eternity, and all I've promised you. Today your life on Earth is past, but here it starts anew. I promise no tomorrow, but today will always last, and since each day is the same day, there's no longing for the past. . But you have been so faithful, so trusting and so true, Though there were some times you did some things you shouldn't do. . But you have been forgiven, and now at last you're free, So come and take me by the hand, and share my life with me.." So when tomorrow starts without me, don't think we're far apart, for every time you think of me, I'll be right there - in your Heart.. Cody touched the lives of so many. He will always be remembered and missed greatly. I'm so sorry for your loss."

"Dear Slaughter Family, Cody was the first person that Brad met at Blinn, and we heard about Co-dog from that day on! I can't tell you what a joy it was to know Cody, and to know that Brad had Co-dog to take care of him in Brenham. The semester that they roomed together, when Brad tore his knee up, Cody quietly and selflessly helped him get to class, drove him around, helped him set up a bed on the floor every night, etc. Finding a 19-year-old with such care and compassion is rare. He became an instant friend to Brad, and from reading the other messages, he affected everyone he came into contact with that same way. He made everyone feel like a special friend. You should be very proud of the young man that he grew to be. Our prayers will be with you all in the days ahead. The Breed Family"

"Nicky said, ?I still cannot believe that Co-Dog is gone?, he speaks for all of us. I personally won?t see him smiling as he drives his Dads Vet waving passing our house anymore. I know everyone had there own special relationship with him because he was generous. Co-Dog was always willing to pause from what he was doing, sit down, look you in eye, listen, and be your friend with no strings attached. Our family mourns with you and your family Russell. We?re so deeply sorry for your loss. Co-Dog was God sent!"
"Dear Russell, Sandy, Ryan and Family, What can anyone say to express their feelings of sorrow for such a loss in someone?s life? As a mother I don?t even want to have to be saying I?m sorry for such a loss much less imagines the pain you are in today. I would like to say I am happy to have known Cody for the amount of time I knew him and I?m thankful he was part of our baseball family?s life. We have good and fond memories of Cody and the depth of pain you are all in right now cannot be penetrated with mere words, but in time I pray you will allow God to help you find comfort from your fond memories and know his life was a gift as well as your lives are a gift for each other; please take comfort in knowing that. Although we have not stayed in touch other than through the Regulator Family grapevine, please know we will be praying for you and if there is anything I/we can do to help you at anytime, please don?t hesitate to let us know. We love you, Pat Spradlin"

"Sandy, Russell and Ryno I can not say I know how you all feel, because I don\'t. Sandy, it was so very hard for me not to break down in front of you when Sherry called to tell us the news about Cody. I had to leave the room to pull myself together in order to comfort you. I know you use to say that Cody was favorite out of him and Ryno. I think we just had a special connection...both Virgos, me born on the 13th of September, and him the 14th. I know I didn\'t see him much anymore, but just hearing you talk about him...in college, at work, fredlol, still made me feel like that connection was still there. I really enjoyed his visits to the office when he was a young pup...never knew what he was going to say lol. I enjoyed watching him play ball...football/baseball. I\'m so glad that I got to see him twice last year, once when him and Nesby came up, and again when him, T-bone, Travisoooh, and some other kid came up to visit. I\'ll miss talking to him on the phone when he calls to talk to you. Russell, Cody was the splittin image of you, and I loved that about him. You are a wonderful dad. Don\'t change anything about yourself. We love you just the way you are. Well, at least I do...lol. Ryno, I first laid eyes on you when you were only 6 weeks old, so you too have a very special place in my heart. I also enjoyed your visits to the office, and coming to your games from T-ball to baseball. Shine on kid. I love each of you very much and my prayers are with you all."

"I may not have known cody for very long but i lived in lockett hall with him for 2 semesters and the best memory i have is when a group of about 20 of us all went to walmart and bought these cheap 10 dollar kites and we stayed in the parking lot having kite wars for hours...me and cody had math together as well we actually sat right next to each other and i cant even count how many times we would both look at each other in lab, and one of us would say \""hey do you know how to do this stuff\"" and the other would laugh and say \""haha no\"".
