"Dear Tammy and Heath, We are so sorry for your loss. Candice was such a beautiful person. We always remember her as the one who lit up the room when she walked in. She had this wonderful ability to make you laugh. It was a pleasure teaching her in youth. We have wonderful memories of watching her flourish in the Lord. We are so sorry we weren't able to come out to pay our respects but know that you were thought of all day long. We pray that "HE will heal your brokenheart and bind up your wounds." Psalm 147:3 We love you! Dan & Donna"
"I am so sorry. I remember the beauty, even briefly...I am thinking of you and your family. Peace be with you, sincerely, roxanne."
"I had the honor of having Candice in the 4th period U.S. History class that I taught her Senior year at Dripping Springs. Even though I was the teacher, Candice taught me many things. She helped me to laugh through many of the bumps a first year teacher goes through and she helped me to mourn the tragedy of Sept. 11 which happened that year. We made angels to remember those that we lost in that tragedy and I know that I am now blessed to have an angel like Candice in heaven smiling down on me. Her presence on earth will be missed, but she will always live on in my heart. God Bless you all."
"I will never, as long as I live, forget this amazing woman that we all love so much. Candice and I became good friends at the winery where we both worked over the last year. We thought of ourselves as a comedy team, whether our customers or the Gilstraps thought so, I have to wonder! Even though there are ten years between us, we were similar in so many ways, including our dance team past, which we laughed about a lot. I could count on her to ALWAYS make me laugh, share a secret, dance with me when a good song came on, listen to my troubles, and bring me breakfast tacos when she was running late! I'll never be able to explain my heartbreak at the loss of this amazing friend. But, likewise, I'll never forget her and will continue to tell all my many Candice stories for the rest of my life. I am absolutely blessed to have known her and will carry my adopted little sister in my heart always. You are all in my thoughts and I hope we can share some stories soon. Love, Lisa"
"May God be with you."
"To the Family of Candice, I would like to start out by saying that I am so very sorry for your loss. I had the pleasure of getting to meet your beautiful Candice through my best friend Chelsea Self. I hung out with Candice many of times but one times clearly sticks out in my mind, and that is the night of Chris Self's 50th birthday party. We went to Puddies and Candice taught me to two- step and we danced all night and laughed so hard we would fall over. She of course had her beautiful smile on. We also played pool and Candice and I were on the same team and I remember her being really Good and I wasnt so good she made all the shots. It was such a wonderful time. I feel so blessed to have met Candice and was able to have some wonderful memories of her. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers daily.I will never forget Candice. Thank you for sharing her with me. With love and respect, Bridget Walker"
"Dear Jesse, Carolyn, Tammy and Heath, We are thinking about you all this afternoon. We just want you to know we love and are here for you. We pray God will give you the desires of your heart, meet all your needs and give you the peace that surpasses all understanding. Let us hear from you soon. Love, Aunt Lucille, Myrna and Mary Ann"
"To my precious baby that has grown into the most beautiful, loving woman to ever touch my life. God blessed me with such a wonderful giving gift, I can't thank Him enough for the time that I had to share with you baby. You made me laugh so hard I would cry, worry so much my hair would fall out, and sometimes scream at the top of my lungs. So many times we danced til we couldn't walk. I wouldn't change one moment, one memory, one heartache, one tear, one smile that you and brother and I shared together. We have SO many precious memories and pictures of our lives together. You always said you were the Princess and I would tell you, "If you are a Princess, then that makes me the Queen." and we would both laugh and laugh. Well my little Princess...your Queen's heart is broken and aching so. But now it is time for me to let you go. You are free as the leaves on the wind and I will remember this is not really the end. Go my Princess spread your wings, dance with the Angels and sing. You are free to Be who want to Be. With ALL my love, Mom"
"Dear Jesse, Carolyn, Tammy and Heath, We are thinking about you all this afternoon. We just want you to know we love and are here for you. "We did not know Candice well but visited the winery recently and she kept us in stitches for HOURS while we shared Dripping Springs and Wimberley stories. She was delightful and we know that she is now delighting in our Lord. May he bring peace and healing to your family until you are again together."
"Dear Tammy, Heath, Carolyn, Jesse and family, I know I submitted an entry already, but I wanted to write again to wish you peace, comfort, and love in the coming days, weeks, months, and years to come.....as I know that your entire life has been changed by this tragedy. I also wanted to let you know that Candice really made a difference in my life the four short years that I had the pleasure to work with her. My oldest was just a toddler when Candice first made Hi-Steppers and I will always cherish how she played with him, cared for him, and made him laugh throughout those four years. What a treasure and a gift to us all. She could always make me laugh and smile when the Hi-Steppers had me a the end of my rope. I will forever be blessed that she came into my life for that brief time and thank your family and God for sharing her beauty with us all. We will dedicate spring show on April 29 in Candice's memory and retire an overlay with her picture that will be hung in the dance room so that we may share our memories and stories about Candice with generations of Hi-Steppers to come. I only hope knowing that we will help her memory live on, will bring you some comfort and peace. If you ever need anything please let me know. 512 858-4612 ext. 248. May God bless you all with his loving arms and I look forward to the day when I can see Canidce again with our heavenly father."

"Tammy and Heath: Please know that my prayers and thoughts will continue with you and your family in the days ahead. The service today was beyond beautiful and so perfect. I have such happy memories of Candice. I had the pleasure of several Hi-Stepper trips with her. I always knew where she was because you could hear her! She was forever talking or laughing. I never saw her angry, upset or sad. She made people feel good when they were around her. I will remember her smile, her laugh and her spunky character! I saw her this past summer at her job at the winery and she was amazing to watch! She was so beautiful, happy and full of life, which was not surprising. Candice - a true treasure. Please find peace in knowing she is safe and well in the arms of our loving Lord. She smiles upon you."

"To Candice's lovely family, I know you are suffering immensely right now, but I want to say thank you for bringing such an amazing, loving, vivacious, strong-willed, beautiful woman into this world. I am so sad that God took her home so soon, but at least we all know she is watching over us now. "Let me start by thanking you all for the gift you shared with our family, your beautiful baby girl, Candice. We will miss her so much. Our hearts are heavy with emotions and we cannot begin to understand why a thing like this must happen to someone so full of life and compassion. We must trust in the Lord with all hearts. We had the priviledge of being parents to children who shared deep friendships, and what a blessing that is. I thank God for the moments I shared with Candice as she grew into a beautiful young woman, from playing in the bathtub, riding horses, doing homework and baking cookies, she always made the times together fun. I watched her in the school plays, VBS, leading prayer with the youth and dancing at the football games. She was the life of the party in every crowd. Her laugh and her smile will never be forgotten and words cannot expess our sadness for you and the love we had for Candice. Please know we are lifting you up to the Father. And we are here for you anytime day or night. We Love You. Gene and Machelle Blessed are the ones who mourn: for they shall be comforted. Mathew 5:4"
