"I had the honor of having Candice in the 4th period U.S. History class that I taught her Senior year at Dripping Springs. Even though I was the teacher, Candice taught me many things. She helped me to laugh through many of the bumps a first year teacher goes through and she helped me to mourn the tragedy of Sept. 11 which happened that year. We made angels to remember those that we lost in that tragedy and I know that I am now blessed to have an angel like Candice in heaven smiling down on me. Her presence on earth will be missed, but she will always live on in my heart. God Bless you all."

"I will never, as long as I live, forget this amazing woman that we all love so much. Candice and I became good friends at the winery where we both worked over the last year. We thought of ourselves as a comedy team, whether our customers or the Gilstraps thought so, I have to wonder! Even though there are ten years between us, we were similar in so many ways, including our dance team past, which we laughed about a lot. I could count on her to ALWAYS make me laugh, share a secret, dance with me when a good song came on, listen to my troubles, and bring me breakfast tacos when she was running late! I'll never be able to explain my heartbreak at the loss of this amazing friend. But, likewise, I'll never forget her and will continue to tell all my many Candice stories for the rest of my life. "To the Family of Candice, I would like to start out by saying that I am so very sorry for your loss. I had the pleasure of getting to meet your beautiful Candice through my best friend Chelsea Self. I hung out with Candice many of times but one times clearly sticks out in my mind, and that is the night of Chris Self's 50th birthday party. We went to Puddies and Candice taught me to two- step and we danced all night and laughed so hard we would fall over.She of course had her beautiful smile on. We also played pool and Candice and I were on the same team and I remember her being really Good and I wasnt so good she made all the shots. It was such a wonderful time. I feel so blessed to have met Candice and was able to have some wonderful memories of her. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers daily.I will never forget Candice. "We did not know Candice well but visited the winery recently and she kept us in stitches for HOURS while we shared Dripping Springs and Wimberley stories. I also wanted to let you know that Candice really made a difference in my life the four short years that I had the pleasure to work with her. My oldest was just a toddler when Candice first made Hi-Steppers and I will always cherish how she played with him, cared for him, and made him laugh throughout those four years.
