In loving memory of

Dale "Spook" H. Voss
January 16, 1940 - June 16, 2019

Dale H. "Spook" Voss, 79, of North Sioux City, SD, formerly of South Sioux City, NE died after being a single vehicle car accident outside Jackson Hole, Wyoming on June 16, 2019.

Memorial services will be at 10:00 A.M. Monday, June 24, 2019 at Mohr Funeral Home in South Sioux City, NE. Visitation with the family present will begin at 9:00 A.M. Monday at the funeral home.

Dale was born to Dorothy Jane Ebel and Dale H. Voss, Jr. on January 16, 1940. Raised in rural Dakota County, he attended Brushy Bend Country School. His high school years were spent at Shattuck Military Academy in Fairbault, MN. After being a varsity swimmer for three years, he graduated from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln with a degree in Business Administration.

Dale met his wife, Lindy, during his senior year at UNL. They married on September 1, 1962. The earlier years of their marriage were spent in South Sioux City. After several moves and businesses, they returned to South Sioux City where they ran the South Sioux City Trailer Washout from 1994 until their retirement in 2011.

After many years working, Dale finally learned to appreciate the pleasures of retirement. He started traveling with Lindy on their many road trips around the country. He was always available for a cup of coffee and a great political debate. His beloved Huskers have lost their most devoted fan.

He was able to reconnect with many of his friends and family. His ability to recount the legendary family lore with a self-deprecating humor helped many people remember a time when the greatest place on Earth was Lik-U-Wanta Beach at Crystal Lake before the flood of 1952.

Dale is survived by his son, J.C. and his wife, Terri, and their children, Corey and Gage; his son, David, and his children, Eric and Deanna; his daughter, Debbie and her husband, Scott VanAuker, and their children, Jack and Aaron; his brother, Stanley "Corky" Voss.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lindy, his parents and his brother, Richard Voss.

Tributes

"JC, Davey, Debbie: We were so sorry to hear about your Dad's passing. You and your families are all in our thoughts and prayers. If we can help in anyway, please let us know. Our families were bound together by our parents for so many years and by many miles in between where they lived. When they got together it was as if nothing had changed, they just picked up where they last were. It's really a tribute to how close they really were to each other and to the importance of their friendship. Your Dad, I will always remember as a gregarious, fun-loving man. He always had a smile on his face, a joke to tell, or he would zap you with a sarcastic, teasing comment about you or some observation about life, politics, or some other target. I'm guessing that there was a pretty good celebration party when your Dad, Mom and our parents finally met up, wherever they may be. It makes me smile to think about all the fun times they shared together and what a meaningful and lasting friendship they all shared. We should all be so lucky to have friends like that. Our best wishes to all of you. Karen Keiser Sizemore"

"So sorry to hear of Dale's passing. I work for Day's Door Company and am the service department manager so I dealt with Dale for many years when he owned the truck wash and I got to know him fairly well. Prayers are with his family at this sad time. Julie "
