Mamie Violet Rottink
April 10, 1927 - June 26, 2019

Mamie (Winkowitsch) Rottink, 92, went to be with her Lord and Savior on June 26, 2019, at Oakwood Care Center in Clear Lake, Iowa. She had resided there since July 2018. Mamie was under Hospice Care.

Mamie Violet Winkowitsch was born April 10, 1927, in White, South Dakota, to Theodore and Ethel (Franken) Winkowitsch. She attended country school and graduated from the eighth grade. Her family moved to Iowa in 1940 to a farm near Bristow. Mamie worked for various families in the community doing housekeeping, candling eggs at the hatchery in Dumont and working at the grocery store in Kesley. Her income was used to help her parents and siblings since they were very poor.

Mamie met the love of her life, Paul C. Rottink, and was married two years later on October 16, 1949, at the Kesley Presbyterian Church. She was a member of the church for over 60 years. To this union, four children were born: Paulette Marie, Garry Gene, Larry Dean and Doreen Ann. Mamie also raised Paul's siblings (Don, Marian and David) when Paul's mother passed away in 1951.

Paul and Mamie lived on the farm in the Allison area their entire married life until they moved to Allison in 2004. Mamie lived at Elm Springs Assisted Living in Allison for five years. She stayed home on the farm with her children while they were growing up. Fresh baked cookies and cinnamon rolls greeted her children when they arrived home from school. Mamie loved to grow flowers, can vegetables and go to church, as well has teach Sunday School. She enjoyed music and shared that talent with her children and grandchildren. Mamie continued to pray for her family and many other people over the years, as well as sending greeting cards.

Mamie is survived by her daughter Paulette (Steven) Lugg of Ventura and son Garry (Terri) Rottink of Marshalltown; grandchildren Mike (Susie) Rottink, Jon (Heather) Rottink, Tim Rottink, Sarah Lugg, Amber (Jedd) Harms, Ryan (Laura) Bru and Jason (Angela) Bru; great-grandchildren Lilly, Jay, Alicia, Brianna, Vanessa, Elliana, Naysa, Isaiah, Archer and Bronwyn; sisters Beverly Boyd and Janet Bangs; brother Clifford Winkowitsch and brother-in-law David Rottink.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Paul Rottink, daughter Doreen Bru and infant son Larry Rottink; sisters Donna Ostendorf and Vivian Wildeboer; brothers Teddy Jr, Russell, Sheldon, Jim and Don Winkowitsch.

"My deepest sympathy to all your family. I really enjoyed your mom. She was such a sweet and nice lady who loved her family deeply. She was so proud of all of. I'm so glad I got the chance to know her through my job at Elm Springs. I'm also thankful she got to live closer to you in her last years Georgia Allen"
