A Celebration of her Life for Lana will be held Monday, July 8, 2019, at 7:00 PM at Oakcrest Funeral Services of Titonka. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 PM Monday, July 8th, at the funeral home.

Lana Trunkhill, the daughter of Merwyn "Jodie" and Viola (Voigt) Cunningham, was born May 8, 1945 in Algona. She grew up in Burt and attended Burt Community School. On September 25, 1962, she married Richard E. Trunkhill at St. John's Lutheran Church, Burt. Together they raised five sons.

Richard and Lana owned and operated Trunkhill Tiling, which they ran for over 40 years. Lana also operated This and That Used Clothing for many years. She and her husband enjoyed visiting with family and friends at the annual kite party they hosted on their farm for over 35 years. Most of all she loved her grandkids and spending time with her family.

Lana enjoyed Elvis music and movies, watching country westerns, reading, and collecting cookie jars. She also had a passion for bowling, camping, fishing, and baking. Lana also loved going to garage sales, meeting new people and finding treasurers. In later years she worked in the food service department at the Titonka Care Center. She then also helped with activities at local nursing homes and assisted living facilities teaching art and crafts and coloring.

Lana Trunkhill left this world on Saturday, June 29, 2019 to go fishing with her husband, her son, and two grandchildren. She was 74.

She is survived by four sons, David (Mary) Trunkhill of Titonka, William (Gabrielle) Trunkhill of Titonka, Matt (Monica) Trunkhill of Woden and Nick (Nikki) Trunkhill of Titonka; a daughter-in-law, Brenda Trunkhill of Burt; her grandkids, Brandi (Paul), Kalab, Shaina, Michael (Kristi), Jonathan, Alexander, Christopher, Joseph, Benjamin, Madelyn, Jacob, Adam, Jazmin, Jorden and Jeremiah; and her great-grandkids, Paige, Kaiden, Genesis, and Kinnick. She is also survived by two brothers, Joe (Cheri) Cunningham of Lu Verne and Doc Cunningham of Victory, WI; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Noreta (Herald) Drab of Long Beach, CA, Catherine Hanson of Burt, Charles (Vickie) Trunkhill of Algona, and Tom (Shila) Trunkhill of Plymouth; as well as many other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Richard on March 27, 2015; a grandson, Carter Trunkhill on April 8, 2017; her son Tony on November 19, 2017; and a granddaughter, Brittney Trunkhill on October 3, 1989.

Rosann Madsen Shipler wrote on Jul 3, 2019:

"Was saddened to hear of Lana's passing. Boyd and I send our deepest sympathy to her sons and to Joe and Doc. Besides being a neighbor, Lana and I shared the same birthdate. Altho she was 1 year older than me, she would call on that date so we could wish each other a special day. Rest in Peace! Rosann (Madsen) and Boyd Shipler"

Pam (Rusher) Goetz wrote on Jul 2, 2019:

"Very sorry to hear about Lana. She was very loving, down-to-earth and had a good sense of humor. My brother (Kurt Rusher) was confirmed with her and we went to the same church in Burt, St. John's Lutheran. I also remember the cafe her parents ran in Burt. Great memories! Our sympathy to the whole family. Derald and Pam (Rusher) Goetz"

Gail Hamilton wrote on Jul 1, 2019:

"I doubt I will ever forget the years I worked with Lana planning and writing programs for LYO kids - many giggles. I especially remember tracing and cutting out what seemed like countless butterflies that were hung above the pews in celebration of Easter - all probably 25 years ago or more. Can't leave out the fishing trips to Burt Lake or herding the kids through Valley Fair. I couldn't have asked for anyone with more can-do spirit than this woman. Much love to her family."
