Elsie D. Springer, 83, of Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away on Monday, July 1, 2019, at West Wing Place in DeWitt, Iowa.

A celebration of Elsie's life will be held at 11 A.M., Monday, July 8, 2019 at First Lutheran Church in Maquoketa. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:30 A.M. until service time at First Lutheran church in Maquoketa. Burial will be at the Mount Hope Cemetery, Maquoketa. The Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa is caring for the family.

Elsie Darlene Liebig was born on April 7, 1936, in Sabula, Iowa, to Carl and Matie (Behr) Liebig. She grew up in Sabula and graduated from Sabula High School. She married Franklin Springer in 1958 in Sabula, Iowa. He preceded her in death on August 17, 1994.

Elsie worked as a waitress at the Green Mill Café and Hayes Café, both in Maquoketa. She had also done babysitting in her home and worked various other jobs. She enjoyed collecting Cardinals, playing cards, visiting with friends, and gambling.

Elsie was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Maquoketa where she was a Sunday school volunteer for over 50 years. She also enjoyed volunteering at Furnishing's Unlimited.

Those left to honor her memory include her children, Randy (Jean) Springer of Maquoketa, IA, and Rick (Valerie) Springer of Rhome, TX; 5 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brothers Carl, Paul and Ronnie, a sister Helen and a grandson Brayden.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, an Elsie D. Springer memorial fund has been established.
