Duane "Dewy" Nihart
October 9, 1950 - June 30, 2019

Duane "Dewy" Nihart, 68, of St. Charles, MN died unexpectedly Sunday, June 30, 2019 at Mayo Health Systems-St. Mary's Campus. Dewy was born on October 9, 1950 in Rochester, MN to Freddy and Sylvia (Scott) Nihart and raised by his father, Freddy, and Stepmother, Mary Ann (Orpen) Nihart. He grew up all around southeastern Minnesota and graduated high school from Winona Senior High and attended Southeast Tech in Winona. Dewy worked as a Sanitation Engineer for 42 years before he retired from Olmsted County three years ago. Dewy loved his four wonderful children, Cory, Lindsay, Brianna, and Stacy. Other than his family Dewy also loved to bowl, play softball, and of course plan his whole day around watching the Vikings or the Twins game.
He is survived by his children, Cory (Katie) Nihart, Lindsay (Rick) Gottschalk, Brianna Nihart, Stacy Nihart; grandchildren, Alyssa, Kiley, and Jake Nihart; mother, Mary Ann Nihart; siblings, Pam (Stan) Kreidermacher, Debbie (Tom) McGuire, Larry (Lynda) Nihart, Sue (Tom) Koen. He was preceded in death by his father, Freddy Nihart, and mother, Sylvia Nihart.

"Dad, you were someone I always confided in and there for me no matter what, even when I made mistakes. You made sure to raise us to be compassionate and caring toward everyone. You always put everyone before yourself and never complained about it. I cherish every memory and every hug. I know I gained the best guardian angel to watch over me.
