Tributes

Joe Thompson, Sr. wrote on Jul 19, 2019:

"Back in the late nineties, Mr. Carlson allowed his son to bring my son into his home on many weekends and holidays while he was attending MMA with Aaron for 3 years in the mid nineties. This meant that instead of my son spending the weekends alone in the MMA barracks or getting into trouble elsewhere he was subject to outstanding adult influence and guidance from Mr. Carlson while having some fun on their farms doing young men things with Aaron. I also think that that time spent at the Carlson's in those years contributed to Aaron and Joe attending Texas A & M together, being in The Corp together and graduating together. Aaron and Joe still talk frequently after 25 years and no doubt the bond they created at Mr. Carlson's place has something to do with that. So, I will forever be grateful to him for that and I'm glad I visited with him just a couple months ago. Thank you Mr. Carlson. ??..Joe Thompson, Spicewood, Texas"

"I was deeply saddened to learn of Jim's passing. My sympathy goes out to his family, Janet, Elllen, and his sons and grandchildren. We were friends from 1st grade on. After graduating from EE High we went to A&I, but lost touch after military service. We occasionally hunted doves in the fall. Lots of good memories. We spoke infrequently by phone, but always remained friends. We greeted one another with "Como esta, amigo" So now I'll sign off with "Adios amigo. Vaya con dios". "
