In loving memory of

Paul Engelbarts
February 12, 1933 - July 5, 2019

Paul Otto Engelbarts was born February 12, 1933, on the family farm near Ledyard, son of Otto and Bertha (Christ) Engelbarts. He grew up in Ledyard and attended Ledyard Community School. He enlisted in the United States Army and after being honorably discharged he returned home to farm.

On June 29, 1957, he was united in marriage to Irene Graue in the Lutheran Church in Frost, MN. Paul and Irene started their life together on a farm north of Lakota and raised three boys Ron, Dennis, and Gary. Paul farmed with his brother, Christ and he loved every minute of it. Paul retired from farming in 1995. He then began helping his neighbor Eldon farm.

Paul enjoyed going for coffee and having breakfast with his neighbors and his friends, playing cards, joking around, and having a cocktail. He especially enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.

He loved life and always had a smile on his face and he will be missed by many.

Paul died Friday, July 5, 2019, at the Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona, Iowa. He was 86.

Left to cherish Paul's memories are his children, Ron Engelbarts and his wife Jill of Lakota, Dennis Engelbarts of Lakota, and Gary Engelbarts and his wife Sara of Urbandale, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Mitch (Heidi) Engelbarts, Ashley (Greg) Risius, Haley Engelbarts, Wade Engelbarts, Leah Engelbarts (Matt Leuwerke), Ethan Engelbarts, Hunter Engelbarts; five great-grandchildren, Tate and Brynlee Engelbarts, Skylar Leuwerke, and Shaelynn and Grant Risius; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Goodrich and Beth Engelbarts, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene; parents, Otto and Bertha; and three brothers, Elmer, Melvin, and Christ.
