Walter H West
May 25, 1924 - June 19, 2019

Walter H. West of Grand Haven, MI, passed away on Wed., June 19, 2019 at the age of 95, at Hume Home Assisted Living. He was born on May 25, 1924 to parents, Ralph and Mary Jane (Maxson) West and lived in Essexville, MI. He was a World War II Army Veteran working as a surgical tech. He graduated from Mich. Tech. Univ. as a Mechanical Engineer. Walt married Margaret (Madigan) and had three daughters. He worked at Dow Chemical Co. in Midland and Bay City as a Senior Research
Engineer for 30 years.
Walt is survived by his daughters; Marilyn (Don) Hansford, Linda (Robert) Bucsh and Carol (Robert) Sleeper; grandchildren, Jeremy and Amber Sleeper, Steven Bucsh; and six great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Margaret. He loved his family. When you saw him smile, you had to smile too. Walter enjoyed tinkering in the basement with his many milling machines. He loved to read and enjoyed spending many hours at the library.
Honoring Walt's wishes cremation has taken place. A private celebration of his life will be held among family at a later date.
